Yangsan sushi near Hwangsan Park: 10-piece special set, Shirokuma

Went to Shirokuma, a Yangsan must-visit. It's in the perfect spot to stop by after Hwangsan Park, and it's genuinely amazing. I finally found the best sushi I've ever had in my life, sniff... better than the sushi I had in Japan, I was floored.

The thickness and size of the fish on the sushi are no joke, seriously huge. The rice seems to be Koshihikari, all glossy, and the seasoning is spot on. The moment it hit my mouth it just melted, I was shocked. Even people in Seoul should make the trip, it's that good.

Parking at Shirokuma and stopping by on the way from Hwangsan Park

Shirokuma is near Hwangsan Park in Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan, and there's parking space right in front of the restaurant, so driving there is easy. If there's no spot out front, you can also park at the Hwangsan Village public parking lot.

But a lot of the bars in front and nearby open late, so during the day there was plenty of open parking.

Booth seats and baby chairs: can you bring a baby to Shirokuma?

The interior at Shirokuma is clean and comfortable, the vibe is really nice! There are booth seats too so you can eat privately, great for a date or a family meal.

The seating gaps are wide too, so it's really comfortable eating with a baby haha. Totally recommend it as a baby-friendly restaurant~!

What comes in the 10-piece special sushi and 12-piece popular set

Visited right at lunchtime and ordered the 10-piece special sushi and the 12-piece popular set~~! Since it's a lunch special set, you get to choose between udon and soba, and I went with udon so my kid could eat it too haha.

When the dishes came out, the plating visuals were amazing...! The special sushi comes with 3 aged sashimi, salmon, tuna loin, soy sauce shrimp, squid, egg, eggplant, and beef. The popular set is salmon x2, beef x2, flounder x2, eggplant x2, garlic shrimp x2, vinegared shrimp x2. And the fish pieces are seriously huge, sniff. The value for money is insane.

And the most amazing thing was the eggplant sushi. It's creamy soft, yet crisp outside and moist and melting inside...

Best eggplant dish I've ever had in my life. This is an absolute must-eat when you come to Shirokuma~~!! I've never had anything like this anywhere else, sniff.

Each piece of sushi is packed with umami all the way through, so the more you chew the more amazed you get. The pairing of the beef sushi and salmon sushi is as perfect a match as the Oath of the Peach Garden from Romance of the Three Kingdoms! I was swept away by how sweet and soft it all tasted, like walking into a candy house haha.

The hot udon broth was also deep and rich, my kid ate it up without any fuss at all. Felt like I got treated to a proper lunch, so happy haha. During lunch hours the delivery orders kept coming in nonstop — honestly I want to come back to Yangsan multiple times just for this, I'd want to travel to Yangsan just to come to Shirokuma. Highly, highly recommend this Yangsan spot!

Is Shirokuma worth it? Final verdict

Shirokuma, a Yangsan must-visit, is a place where you can taste fresh ingredients and carefully made sushi. It's also great as a family outing spot with a baby or for group gatherings haha.
