I usually like food that sits comfortably in my stomach or menus that feel relatively healthy, and when I want to work out and get some protein too, poke is subtly satisfying, which I love.

Once inside the building, the orange-decorated shop comes into view, so it was easier to find than I expected.

The exterior already has that very orange feel, and the same color is used as an accent inside, making the whole place feel fresh. The moment I walked in, it somehow felt like I had come for a healthy meal, haha.

On one side, there were utensils, lemon water, and hot rooibos tea, plus sesame soy sauce and yuja soy sauce to use. They even had mouthwash, which made it feel like they had considered the little things too—just what you would expect from a popular Gangnam Station lunch poke spot with lots of office workers.

The restaurant itself was quite spacious, so it looked fine for visiting with friends or coworkers too. I came alone that day and sat at a solo seat.

Super Protein Poke taste

Super Protein Poke and Victoria sparkling water

Since I usually like making sure to get protein, I ordered the Super Protein Poke and Victoria sparkling water. Among poke salads near Gangnam Station, it appealed to me personally because it lets you eat a variety of ingredients all at once.

Super Protein Poke with sriracha mayo

I first tried a little of the sriracha mayo that came with it, and it was spicy and savory. It was not intensely hot—more like, “Oh, it has a little kick”—so it was easy to enjoy with the poke. Most of all, I liked how fresh the vegetables were. There was pineapple among the crisp vegetables, and those bursts of tangy sweetness made it work better than I expected, haha.

The rice, chickpeas, and lentils were nutty and soft, and eating them with the salmon was nice because I could enjoy so many textures in one bite.

Poke with salmon, beans, and avocado

The avocado was soft and nutty too, and it went well with all the ingredients. Rather than making it feel rich, it seemed to make the poke itself a little smoother. This Gangnam Station poke salad suited my taste well, since I usually prefer a healthy, easy-on-the-stomach meal. Especially on workout days, I tend to pay attention to protein, so I also liked that it was filling enough for a full meal.

A different menu next time

Choosing a future menu at Ola Poke

Whenever I finish a tasty meal, I always start thinking, “What should I have next time?” haha. At Ola Poke, I would like to try the Garlic Shrimp Poke or Steak Poke next time. I did not order a side this visit, but on my next visit, I want to have it with soup too.

After the meal at Ola Poke Gangnam
