Maybe it's the cooler weather these days, but I've had sweet, buttery desserts on my mind nonstop lately! I happened to have an appointment near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station, so I stopped by BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch, which I'd heard is a holy site for bread lovers haha.

Walking through the alleyways, the store greets you with a look that perfectly matches the brand's slogan about small happiness hidden in side streets! It felt like stepping into a charming little European alley bakery, so I was already excited before I even walked in ^-^ It's also certified with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's 'Very Excellent' hygiene rating, so I felt extra at ease using the place!

BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch is a bread-pilgrimage hotspot near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station with a strong European alley vibe. The moment I opened the door, a rich, buttery aroma from the daily fresh baking drifted through the air, and it instantly put me in a great mood.

The interior was so much bigger and more open and pleasant than I expected — I loved it!! It was exactly the kind of bakery café where you can relax and take it easy haha.

What really struck me was how thoughtfully laid out the seating options were — there are so many different types! The window-side bar table and solo seats looking straight out at Dangsan Neighborhood Park seemed perfect for a quiet solo visit or getting some work done, and further inside there was spacious general seating and group tables for several people, plus even a meeting room haha.

They even had considerate pathways for high chairs and wheelchair users, so it felt like a warm, welcoming space that anyone could visit comfortably — I really loved that ^0^

About 50 kinds of bread: what's on the shelves?

The display case at BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch holds over 50 kinds of baked goods, from freshly baked salt bread to baked snacks.

When I headed to the display case to properly pick something out, my jaw dropped at the sheer scale of the lineup — over 50 kinds!

Beyond their signature salt bread, there was a whole crispy-outside-chewy-inside financier series including the salty financier, plump bagels, jambon beurre sandwiches, fruit cakes, and tarts — they really had it all!

There was also a full lineup of unusual items, from the Dubai chocolate salt bread that went viral after being mentioned on TV by Joo Woo-jae, to mocha salt bread and corn cheese salt bread, so browsing was genuinely fun haha. They even kindly post the times fresh batches come out, so if you want warm bread straight out of the oven, I'd recommend timing your visit accordingly!!

How does the ham cheese salt bread taste?

The first item I picked to eat in-store was the ham cheese salt bread! It's a meeting of savory flavor and chewy salt bread.

The signature salt bread's distinctive chewy, flaky layers formed the base, and inside was packed generously with savory, salty ham and cheese. Every bite burst with rich buttery flavor and that satisfying sweet-salty combo, making it plenty filling and satisfying as a light meal replacement!

New menu: the fig pistachio tart

The second item I picked was BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch's new fig pistachio tart. A perfect match of nutty pistachio cream and fig.

Next up was the eye-catching new fig pistachio tart!! The crisp tart shell was piled high with fresh whole fig flesh.

What I liked best was that instead of a bright cream cheese filling, it was packed with heavy, nutty pistachio cream. It wasn't overly sweet, letting the natural flavors of the ingredients come through, so I could enjoy it clean and elegant down to the last bite ^-^

The drinks: iced Americano and café latte

It'd feel like something was missing to have great bakery items without drinks, so I paired them with an iced Americano and a café latte!

The iced Americano had a rich, nutty body that cleanly cut through the sweetness of the ham cheese salt bread and the tart haha.

The café latte, too, had a deep harmony of smooth milk and slightly bitter coffee aroma that matched really well with the desserts!

I really appreciated the small details like sanitized tongs and friendly service that showed real care went into the shop. The pretty boxes and packaging were also well done, so I'm thinking of visiting again to pick up baked snacks as gifts next time.
