Birthday candles in an egg tart at Yeongdeungpo bakery BYWAY BAKERS
In short
BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch is a large bakery café a two-minute walk from Exit 1 of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station in Seoul. Hearing that the wakppu salt bread was good, the writer stopped by and took home blueberry wakppu salt bread, a fig tart and an egg tart, then stuck birthday candles in the egg tart because the couple don't like cake. With a wide range of breads and plenty of seats, BYWAY BAKERS works for a group visit or a quick lunchtime stop.

What's on the goods and drinks menu at BYWAY BAKERS
BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch sells cute little goods on one side of the store haha. Browsing the goods while browsing the bread was pretty fun too.

They also sell a wide range of drinks, from coffee to tea to ades, so it seemed like a great place to pair one with your bread.

They sell all sorts of things — Dubai chocolate salt bread, double chocolate baguette, corn cheese salt bread, and more!

Inside BYWAY BAKERS: group seats and the meeting room
The inside of BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch was way bigger than I expected! Lots of tables, a room space, and separate group seating too!

It seemed great for visiting with a group. It also looked like a solid option for office workers stopping by on their lunch break.
The meeting room also runs on a reservation system.

How many kinds of bread, and what they cost
Whoa, the moment a bread lover's eyes go wide... There were way more kinds of bread than I expected, so I spent ages browsing right after walking in lol. Bagels, jambon beurre, salt bread, sandwiches.

From salt bread to tarts, bagels, and financier-style desserts, there was so much variety it was a happy dilemma deciding what to get. What's surprising is that, given bread prices these days, it's actually pretty reasonably priced.

The only reason I came here was the salt bread, so haha. Looking at the fridge case, they had fig, peach, and blueberry salt bread, whole cakes, cake slices, even carrot rapée sandwiches — really so much variety. Made it hard to decide...

What the blueberry wakppu salt bread tastes like
Lalala, I packed a salt bread, a fig tart, and an egg tart to go from BYWAY BAKERS.

The blueberry salt bread. Wait, isn't the packaging just too cute lol. It has a real high-end dessert feel.

The visual was so cute and I'd seen it all over Reels and Shorts, so I was curious >< The wakppu salt bread has a thin chocolate coating on top, so the salty taste of the salt bread combined with the sweet chocolate makes for an unusual pairing!
It looks like it would make a crisp snapping sound the moment you bite into it lol. Cracking into the chocolate was fun in itself.
One bite in, and I immediately understood why it's so popular... Inside was packed with cream cheese, fresh blueberries, and blueberry jam. Being a salt bread, there's a salty edge, but with the cream cheese and blueberries it came together sweet and soft at the same time. Maximum satisfaction...

Inside the fig tart: a look at the cross-section
It's fig season, so there was no way I could walk past BYWAY BAKERS' fig tart!?!?!?

Maybe because figs are at their tastiest right now, it was sweet and delicious. Fresh fig plus rich, thick cream made for a total visual win. I split it in half to check the cross-section, and honestly this is a shot you can't not take... Inside the tart was a crisp cookie base, topped generously with fig cream.

Putting birthday candles in an egg tart instead of a cake
Since our couple isn't really into cake, this time we bought a BYWAY BAKERS egg tart and stuck candles in it haha. It ended up being cute and different in its own way haha.

The egg tart was moist and soft inside, and we enjoyed it a lot!! With so many kinds of bread and a drink menu ranging from coffee to tea to ades, it was a great place to stop by for bread! The store is spacious with lots of different seating, so it was a nice, relaxed place to enjoy some time!
