Discovering a good bakery lately just puts me in a good mood for the whole day. This time I went to BYWAY BAKERS near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station — a bakery well known near Dangsan Station too. It sits right beside a park, so it's great for grabbing bread and going for a walk, or just settling in at the café for a while.

BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch posts when each bread comes out
BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch has a sign out front listing when each bread comes out. Seeing that everything is baked in-house daily built a bit of extra trust right away. A small detail like this seemed to reflect confidence in their basics. The signature item looked to be the salt bread, and I imagine timing your visit around when it comes out fresh would make it even better.

Inside BYWAY BAKERS: the space and the window bar table
Walking in, the space was much bigger than expected. Tables were generously spaced, making it look great for meetups, and plenty of customers were indeed chatting away. There was also a bar table by the window, so it felt totally fine to visit alone. Sipping coffee while looking out at the park seemed like a lovely idea.

Visiting in the morning, staff were continuously restocking freshly baked bread, and every single one looked so tempting that it took me a while to choose.

The tongs also came with a sanitized notice, managed hygienically — a small detail that left an impression.

How varied is the bread lineup at BYWAY BAKERS?
From salt bread to garlic baguette, Hong Kong-style pineapple bun, pretzel and egg tart, the variety was really impressive.

Plain baguette and olive focaccia, straight from the morning display
The plain baguette was crisp outside, moist inside, with a nutty wheat flavor that came through more with each chew — a real textbook baguette. The olive focaccia had a chewy texture and was loaded with olives, giving it a salty depth that would hold up as a full meal on its own.

What the egg tart is like
The egg tart's pastry shell was crisp with visible layers, while the filling inside was soft and moist, making it easy to finish without feeling heavy. All three items felt like they had solid fundamentals, which made me want to come back next time for the salt bread and the Hong Kong-style pineapple bun.

Baked treats and gift boxes at BYWAY BAKERS
Financiers and madeleines were also prettily displayed, and the fig pistachio tart in particular had such a beautiful look that it was impossible to walk past.

Neat cake box packaging was also available, making it a good option for gifts.

The fig pistachio tart we took home
This time I took a fig pistachio tart to go. From the first bite, the texture of the fig flesh came through vividly, and the nuttiness of the pistachio blended in naturally — a really great combination.

It wasn't overly sweet either, so it was easy to finish without feeling heavy, and the natural flavor of the ingredients came through nicely. It made me want to try the salt bread and garlic baguette together next time.

In the cake section, the peach yogurt cream cake stood out the most, piled generously with peaches and looking delicious just to see. With a lineup like this, anyone searching for a good bakery near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station or Dangsan Station would likely be satisfied.

Would we go back to BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo?

It's a versatile space, good for resting alone with coffee and just as comfortable for meeting friends. If you're looking for good bread near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station, it's worth a stop. Next time I'll try to time my visit for when the salt bread comes out fresh.
