Today's post is about a visit to Chilseong Jemyeonso, a great spot for weekend lunch near the Sinbong-dong dining district. I went there while shopping near Suji Lotte Mall, looking for a simple soba & pork cutlet place nearby, and found this one. Here's my honest review.
Where is Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch?
Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch (칠성제면소 수지본점) is located at 80 Seongbok 1-ro, Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, near the Sinbong-dong dining district in Suji. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00.
Right at the entrance there's a signboard announcing it as a specialist in 33 kinds of noodle dishes. As a noodle lover, how could I not go in?! Beyond noodles, they also have a wide range of signature dishes — rice bowls, pork cutlets, mandu — so I walked in with high expectations.
Parking, subway access and reservations in Suji
Chilseong Jemyeonso is about 900m from Exit 4 of Seongbok Station, so it's easy to reach by subway too. I went by car, and parking is free for customers driving in — no need to worry about that. They also have Catch Table set up, which suggests it gets busy during meal times.
Inside Chilseong Jemyeonso and the weekend lunch crowd
Inside, Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch has a clean, stylish white-and-wood interior. I went around noon on a weekend and it wasn't too crowded yet, but it filled up quickly not long after.
If you're planning a weekend lunch visit, I'd recommend getting there a bit early! Scissors, side plates, and water are self-serve, so check the self-serve corner.
What is on the 33-dish noodle menu?
The main menu has a wide variety — pork cutlets, soba, jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles), and more! Being a noodle specialist, there are so many noodle options that I really had to think hard about what to order.
So here's what we ended up ordering — drumroll!

Doesn't the visual alone fill you up haha. It came out on a really clean-looking table, which made the whole meal feel good. The dishes came out in about 10 minutes too, so turnover was fast and everything arrived hot — very satisfying.
Buckwheat soba set: enough for two to share
Chilseong's buckwheat soba set (pan memil soba jeongsik) comes with both soba and pork cutlet, so I'd recommend it if you want to try both. The soba portion was generous enough for two people to share, which was an extra plus.
The soba especially was delicious — the noodles were super chewy and the broth was seasoned just right. It really felt like a soba specialist restaurant!! I ate it very happily.
Real cheese pork cutlet: how far the cheese stretches
I usually love cheese pork cutlets, so I ordered the real cheese pork cutlet. Since it came out freshly fried, the cheese smell was so nutty and rich, and it stretched so much — it was amazing.
The cheese was packed in so full that you get that cheesy flavor from the first bite. They give you both wasabi and pork cutlet sauce, so you can dip it however you prefer.
It was super crispy and warm — my favorite dish!! You all should definitely try this one. The salad that comes with it has a black sesame dressing, which made it even tastier together. I'm not great with greasy food, but the salad helped me clean the whole plate.
Is the spicy seasoned mandu worth adding as a side?
The spicy mixed mandu (mandu, dumplings) was the side dish we ordered. If you eat only pork cutlet it can get greasy, right?! Wrapping the mandu with vegetables cuts through the richness perfectly.
I think we ordered this one right too!! The seasoning on the vegetables was just right, and it paired really well with the pork cutlet.
