Has everyone heard of 'chirashi sushi'?! 🍣 Unlike regular sushi, it's a whole new kind of sushi you scoop up with a spoon! 🤤 This was actually my first time trying it and it was so good I had to write about it haha ✨

I happened to be passing by Incheon Nonhyeon Station when I heard everyone raving about 'Hongdae Gureume Incheon Nonhyeon Branch,' which apparently recreates authentic Fukuoka flavors — so I walked in like I was hypnotized 🏃‍♀️💨

Even the exterior already gave off major true-local-favorite vibes! Looking at the sign, chirashi sushi and Kumamoto-style ramen seem to be the main menu, so I was already drooling before I even walked in lol. It also feels like a perfect spot for anyone visiting Soraepogu and looking for a filling, different-from-usual meal nearby!

What's the vibe inside like?

The moment I stepped inside, it genuinely felt like I'd wandered into a restaurant in Japan ✨ Japanese manga posters plastered coolly across the walls gave it serious back-alley Osaka midnight-diner energy!

They even run a little gacha-draw event in store, plus a prepaid top-up event for regulars 💸 After one bite I seriously considered becoming a regular and loading up a prepaid card lol.

Scanning through the menu, they've got everything from ramen and sushi to a chirashi sushi single dish and great-value set meals! The bar-table seating also makes it really comfortable to come solo dine in Incheon Nonhyeon without feeling self-conscious. The cozy vibe also makes it a solid pick for a date spot in Incheon or planning an Incheon Nonhyeon-dong date course 👩‍❤️‍👨

I can never give up either salmon or tuna, so I confidently ordered the 'chirashi sushi salmon+tuna set' 🐟❤️ Order the set instead of the single dish and you get crispy shrimp tempura, karaage, and a refreshing salad added on top — it really comes out as a full table of food... ㅠㅠ

When the food arrived — whoa... the sushi looked like it was about to overflow the bowl 😭 Ordering tuna + salmon together made it colorful and gorgeous too, I must've taken like 500 photos 📸

For sides, the set came generously loaded with a sweet pumpkin salad, a fresh leaf salad, and candied sweet potato that was seriously addictive!

The shrimp tempura and karaage that came with it were fried perfectly crispy outside, juicy inside — the juices burst out the moment I bit in, and I wanted to order ten more pieces of just the karaage 🍗🔥

So how does the spoonable sushi taste?

I drizzled a bit of wasabi soy sauce and scooped it up with the rice — the way all the ingredients come together in your mouth is genuinely insane ㅠㅠ The tuna especially had zero fishiness and melted away like cotton candy the second it hit my tongue 🍣

Digging down under the rice, there's crunchy lotus root, mushroom, and cucumber layered underneath, so the balance between the chewy rice, soft sashimi, and crunchy vegetables was completely perfect... ✨

Putting a dab of wasabi right on the tuna was pure bliss...ㅠㅠ And there was so much tuna I could eat as much as I wanted!! 🐟🧡

When I got a little thirsty from all that tuna-scooping, I took a sip of the grapefruit ade I'd ordered alongside 🍹 It had a ton of grapefruit flesh settled at the bottom, so it had great texture plus a tangy sweetness that totally reset my palate haha.

The salmon came generously topped with a soft house-made sauce, onions, and popping flying fish roe, so eating it scooped up with rice felt like enjoying a genuinely upscale salmon sushi in generous portions ㅠㅠ The savory richness of the salmon paired with the tangy sauce — honestly no words needed, it's a knockout combo 🕺
