How long is the weekday evening wait at Extra Mile in Gwangalli?

When I arrived at Extra Mile on a weekday evening at 7pm, there were 2 teams waiting, and by the time I got in it had grown to 9. Even so, the turnover was fast enough that once you wait a bit, you're seated and eating in no time — so don't give up just because the wait looks long!

The Ham Couple Diary went back to Extra Mile in Gwangalli. I'd tried it right after it opened and the pizza was so, so good, so I stopped by on the way home from Shinsegae Department Store. I wondered if they'd kept up that same quality, or if everyone just has the same taste — because when I went to eat at this Gwangalli pizza favorite, there were 9 teams waiting.

When I got inside, staff were clearing tables everywhere — people who'd eaten around 5–6pm were leaving as a whole new wave of customers poured in around 7pm.

The vibe fits a Western restaurant in Gwangalli perfectly, so it made for a really great date spot. With the due date getting closer, my husband and I are trying to squeeze in as much time together as we can, just the two of us.

Extra Mile's Classic Combo for two is 1 pasta + 1 pizza for ₩42,000, and the Extra Combo for 3–4 people is 1 pizza + 2 pasta + 1 side for ₩68,000. Pizzas can be ordered half-and-half, so you can pick two flavors you're craving at no extra cost.

Coloring pages while you wait: inside Extra Mile

At Extra Mile, you can color in a picture while waiting for your food, haha. Last time it was waves too, and today I got waves again. My husband's was pasta-shaped, and he colored it in enthusiastically.

The tableware is always so pretty. Last time I came for lunch in Gwangalli, but today it's dinner. There are so many good restaurants in Gwangalli, but Extra Mile is easily one of my top picks for atmosphere and taste.

They brought out the pickles that come as a default first. Tangy and refreshing, they really got my appetite going.

My husband's hobby is surfing and I've been joining him lately — look at the detail on this coloring page, isn't it something? You can't have pale skin here! The tanned, curved parts need to be even more sun-kissed, red, and deeply colored. Ahem.

They also give you a disposable apron so nothing gets on your clothes during the date! The place was full, which gave it an even livelier feel.

My husband cut the big pickle pieces because he said his princess has a small mouth and can't handle them whole. It's funny and cute to see him fuss over little things like that, haha.

We enjoyed the clean, tidy atmosphere while waiting for the pizza.

What the tomato pasta tastes like, and why to eat the cheese separately

At Extra Mile, the tomato pasta came out before the pizza — makes sense, since pizza takes time to bake. I usually order the meaty ragu pasta, so enjoying the pure, bright flavor of tomato again after a while was such a treat — so tangy and delicious.

The staff recommended not mixing the cheese on top into the noodles but eating it separately, so being the obedient type, I did exactly that.

The basil blooming on top made the plating so pretty I almost felt bad eating it.

While we were waiting, I told my husband I wasn't that hungry and worried we might not finish, so maybe we should box up the pizza to go... yeah right. We scraped the pizza completely clean too. It's a flavor so magical it makes you forget you're full.

Salad pizza and birria taco pizza half-and-half review

For pizza, we ordered the salad pizza and birria taco half-and-half at Extra Mile. It came with 3 slices of salad pizza and 3 of birria taco, so we split them evenly like the happy couple we are.

There was clearly a lot of food, but it was so good the Ham couple slurped it all down before we knew it — there one minute, gone the next.

My husband picked the salad pizza and I picked the birria taco pizza, but the salad pizza's tangy dressing was so good I ended up stealing his! It's not the heavy pizza flavor I'm used to — it's light and refreshing, which I think women in particular will really love.

The birria taco pizza comes with a hit of cilantro

The birria taco pizza comes with cilantro salsa and sour cream. Crushed nacho chips are scattered on top, adding even more of that taco flavor. I expected the cilantro salsa to be a bit spicy, but there was no heat at all, so it's a flavor people of all ages can enjoy. I'm a cilantro lover myself so I ate it just fine, but if you dislike cilantro, know that you'll pick up on a slight hint of it — worth considering!

The staff recommended eating the salad pizza in one bite rather than cutting it with a knife, to fully taste its true flavor! I usually like cutting my food, but I listened to them and picked it up instead — and yum, getting all that salad in one bite was so refreshing.

Why can't every tomato pasta taste this fresh and bright? Extra Mile's flavor is one I keep thinking about.

The dough itself is nice and chewy, so you can eat Extra Mile's pizza all the way down to the crust and enjoy it too!

Pairing Extra Mile with a Gwangalli night beach walk

Extra Mile is right by Gwangalli, so it's great to follow dinner with a stroll along the beach at night. The pickles my husband lovingly cut for me, the pizza and pasta, the perfect atmosphere, and the friendly staff — it's always a place that puts me in a good mood whenever I visit.

After I give birth, I'm definitely... definitely having a draft beer here. Noted and promised.
