Jambon jalapeño ciabatta at a Seoul Station sandwich shop

In short

Dance Dance Dance Seoul Station is a sandwich and brunch shop on B3 of Grand Central in Jung-gu, Seoul. I packed up a jambon jalapeño sandwich set before my train and swapped the baguette for ciabatta at no extra charge. A light but seriously filling Seoul Station meal.

Packing up a sandwich before my Seoul Station train

I had wrapped up my Seoul schedule and my train happened to overlap with lunchtime, so I thought, I should pack up a sandwich! It turns out Dance Dance Dance, which is popular as a great sandwich spot in Hannam-dong, has a Seoul Station branch too! I heard it was on B3 of the Grand Central building in front of Exit 4, so I hurried right over.

After packing up a sandwich at this Seoul Station brunch spot, it took about 5–10 minutes to get from Grand Central to the train platforms at Seoul Station! I especially recommend Dance Dance Dance to anyone like me who needs to travel out of town from Seoul Station around mealtime.

The Grand Central building was immediately visible from Seoul Station Exit 4. It is so huge that you really cannot miss it... that kind of place... Just take the elevator or escalator down to B3.

The words Dance Dance Dance stood out so much that there was no way I could miss it, haha. When you want something simple rather than a heavy meal during a busy morning or lunch hour, sandwiches are just perfect, right?! I came in for a light brunch that day, but the sandwich set was more filling than I expected and made for a proper meal.

Ordering a sandwich set at the Seoul Station branch

Because Dance Dance Dance Seoul Station makes its sandwiches to order, they are best eaten within 30 minutes of purchase. If you cannot eat yours right away, I recommend storing it somewhere cool and warming it in an air fryer at 180°C for 3 minutes before eating! I simply packed mine up and ate it about 30 minutes later, and everything—the bread, the sauce, the sandwich itself—was so good.

A varied baguette sandwich menu

There were so many things I wanted to try, so I agonized over it—and after all that deliberation, I chose the simple but punchy (?) jambon jalapeño sandwich.

Choosing the jambon jalapeño sandwich

When I ordered an iced Americano with my jambon jalapeño sandwich, they told me it would be cheaper to order it as a sandwich set! You can make any sandwich into a set for an extra ₩3,500, so if you want the sandwich-and-coffee combination like I did, choose the set and get ₩1,000 off.

Along with its many sandwich options, Dance Dance Dance also had chocolate-chip scones and plain scones! Next time, I want to try a chocolate-chip scone too.

I ordered the sandwich set, drank my coffee there, and asked them to pack up the sandwich! I was planning to eat half... and take the other half with me.

Normally, sandwiches at Dance Dance Dance come on baguette by default, but I changed mine to ciabatta. Personally, bread texture matters a lot in a sandwich, and switching to ciabatta gave it another kind of charm. I prefer fluffy, chewy, mild ciabatta to crisp, chewy baguette, so I made the change—but you can choose according to your taste! I also loved that changing to ciabatta did not cost extra.

The characteristically chewy yet mild texture of ciabatta went so well with the jambon and jalapeño combination. Baguette's crisp texture is lovely too, but if you prefer bread that is a little softer and chewier, I recommend the ciabatta swap.

Salty jambon and zingy jalapeño

The savory saltiness of the jambon, or French-style ham, with jalapeño made for a clean, easy-to-eat combination. A sandwich with jambon can sometimes taste salty overall, but the sharp jalapeño really woke up the palate!! If you especially like a sandwich with a lightly spicy point rather than a rich, greasy flavor, I think this will suit your taste.

A sandwich needs good bread first—can you see those air pockets...? The ciabatta here is honestly so delicious on its own. And I loved that the jalapeño had a real presence. I thought they would just put a few jalapeño slices on top and call it a day, but the sauce itself was made with jalapeño, so I could really taste it even with the thick ciabatta! Still, it did not overpower the jambon or any of the other ingredients; everything worked together so harmoniously.

A jambon jalapeño sandwich set for a meal

The jambon jalapeño sandwich set, with the set additions alongside the sandwich, was just right for an easy, no-fuss meal! In particular, I recommend it to anyone who likes a little more excitement than a plain sandwich, thanks to the salty jambon and the spicy jalapeño kick.
