When you can't decide on a Gwangalli diner: Daidokoro Gwangalli
Daidokoro Gwangalli is a great pick when you're craving a Japanese-style meal in Gwangalli. Honestly, there are so many options for eating in Gwangalli haha. That day I kept wondering "what should I eat today?" and ended up craving Japanese food, so I went to Daidokoro Gwangalli 🤍🍚

Oh, by the way, Daidokoro Gwangalli is also close to Gwangalli Beach, so it's perfect to stop by before or after a beach walk~! Just a 5-minute walk away

I'd heard this name floating around as a Gwangalli diner for quite a while, and it turns out it's been holding its spot in Gwangalli for over 10 years! Somewhere that's been loved in the same location for that long just makes me more curious 👀✨
The vibe inside — fun with figures and a guestbook
The inside of Daidokoro Gwangalli has a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. The moment I walked in, that's what I felt — cozier and more comfortable than I expected. And there's actually a lot of fun stuff to look at here lol

I think the owner must like figures, because there are cute little figures all over the restaurant, so it was fun spotting them one by one while waiting for the food lol

Rather than just wolfing down food and leaving, there are little things to look at in the space itself, so the wait didn't feel boring at all

While waiting for the food I also found a guestbook! I couldn't just walk past it, so I left a little doodle of my own ✏️🎨 Little touches like these make the place feel that much more personal
Reservations and parking — how does it work
At Daidokoro Gwangalli you can make a Naver Reservation for weekday lunch or dinner 📱✨ If you're the type who plans around mealtimes, booking ahead is a good idea!
Parking is another important factor, and if you park at a nearby lot and bring your receipt, they'll give you ₩1,000 off parking 🚗💨 Parking can be a real headache when eating in Gwangalli, so I liked that they take care of that too
What I ordered — chicken nanban set and PREMIUM tonkatsu curry set

The menu I ordered that day was the chicken nanban set and the PREMIUM tonkatsu curry set! 🍛✨ Both are the kind of thing anyone who likes Japanese food would want to try at least once, so my excitement rose from the moment I chose the menu haha

Chicken Nanban Set
First, the chicken nanban set comes with the chicken nanban plate, a fried egg, croquette, and curry sauce 🍗🍳🥔

What stood out was the sweet-and-tangy special sauce and tartar sauce piled on top of the chicken nanban — the savoriness hit right from the first bite. It really captured the feel of Miyazaki-style chicken nanban, and the sweet-tart sauce paired nicely with the soft tartar sauce 😋💛

Eating it with rice, the sauce adds even more flavor and the whole bowl disappears fast! The croquette was crispy outside and fluffy inside, great to eat alongside, and with the fried egg on top it felt like a really filling meal
And then the pudding dessert that comes out at the end of the meal! 🍮🤍 Soft and sweet, good to eat like a dessert after the meal. Personally, little desserts like this always put me in a good mood haha
PREMIUM Tonkatsu Curry Set
Next up, the PREMIUM tonkatsu curry set 🍛✨ A name that already gets your hopes up a bit — it's a set where you get to enjoy tonkatsu aged for 100 hours together with authentic Japanese-style curry

The tonkatsu was fried crisp on the outside with juicy meat still inside, and it paired really well when eaten with the curry 🤎
The deep, rich flavor unique to Japanese curry went so well with the tonkatsu that I kept doing a spoonful of rice, a bite of tonkatsu, and some curry all together

It also comes with a clear soup and croquette, and this set too finishes with soft pudding! 🍮 It's a set that covers you from the meal through to dessert, so it seemed perfect for a day when you want to eat something hearty

A seasonal drink for summer too

And if you visit in summer, there's another menu item worth keeping an eye on — the seasonal drink 🍑🌿 Apparently a new drink made with in-season fruit comes out each season, so it made me curious, like "what fruit drink will they have next month?" haha It's fun that you can come back to the same place and still find something new depending on the season 🍓🍊🍐
While hunting for a good Gwangalli diner, what I personally liked most was that it's not just about the food — you can feel the owner's warmth all around the restaurant! From the figures to the guestbook, the seasonal drinks and the variety of set menus, it all feels like they genuinely want guests to eat comfortably 🥰
What I want to order next time
These days so many places come to mind when you think of a good Gwangalli diner, but Daidokoro, having kept its spot for over 10 years, really does feel special

If you're someone who likes Japanese-style meals like me, you'll probably enjoy the chicken nanban or tonkatsu curry, and next time I'm planning to try something else 👀 In particular, I've made a mental note that I absolutely have to try the Japanese-style kkanpunggi set I haven't tried yet lol 📝💕

For anyone weighing things like parking, lunch options, or solo dining while looking for a good Gwangalli diner, there's a pretty wide range of choices here, so it's worth a visit. I had a satisfying meal, checked out the cute figures, and even left a drawing in the guestbook — it ended up being a surprisingly memorable day 🤍 I'm already a little curious what seasonal drinks and menus I'll find next time at Daidokoro Gwangalli haha

If you're craving a hearty Japanese-style meal in Gwangalli and want to eat slowly in a comfortable atmosphere, this is a place worth stopping by 🍚🍮✨
