Gwangalli café, salmon Benedict & smashed avocado: Working Holiday

In short

Working Holiday Millak (워킹홀리데이 민락) is a brunch café on the 7th floor of the Bada Maru building on Millaksubyeon-ro in Suyeong, Busan, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Bridge. The writer ordered an iced Americano, salmon eggs Benedict and smashed avocado and ate brunch at a window seat with the ocean view. Working Holiday Millak costs a little more than an ordinary café, but the ocean view and plating make it a brunch worth treating yourself to.

This is my visit to Working Holiday Millak, where I went looking for a good brunch café in Gwangalli! 😊 There are so many cafés in Gwangalli, but it's surprisingly hard to find one with a decent brunch menu AND a pretty interior, right?! But the moment you walk into Working Holiday, big windows show you Gwangalli Beach, and that won me over ..💙

What is the atmosphere inside Working Holiday Millak?

It feels stylish from the entrance 🤍💙 You see a big open space right away, and it continues inward to the window seats looking out at Gwangalli Beach. 🫢👏🏻 It felt just right as a Gwangalli date spot, or for brunch with a friend. 👍🏻

I loved that the inside is bigger and more open than I expected!!! Wood-tone floors with black and yellow accents make it casual but still stylish, haha

Window seats with views of Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Bridge

Best of all at Working Holiday Millak, you can see Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Bridge through the huge windows 🌊 Sitting by the window, you get coffee and brunch with the sea in front of you, so it felt less like a meal and more like a little trip ..🩷

In the daytime sunlight pours in, so it feels bright and relaxed, and the space is big enough that it never felt stuffy. It's good for coming alone for a coffee, or for chatting over brunch with friends :)

Order at the kiosk by the entrance

There's a kiosk near the entrance for ordering desserts and drinks, which made choosing easy. 👍🏻 Overall it's clean and hip, so it's great for taking photos too. 📸

Brunch menu we ordered at Working Holiday Millak

After some deliberation, we ordered an iced Americano, a salmon eggs Benedict and a smashed avocado. ✌🏻

  • Americano (iced)
  • Salmon eggs Benedict
  • Smashed avocado

The brunch prices are a bit higher than a light café menu, but considering the Gwangalli ocean view and the plating, it was a nice brunch to treat yourself, haha

Ta-da ✨✨ This is what we ordered!

Let me introduce them one by one ✌🏻

How does the salmon eggs Benedict taste?

The salmon eggs Benedict at Working Holiday Millak comes with salmon, poached egg, tomato, salad and sauce all on one plate 🍳 The colors were so pretty the moment it arrived that I couldn't not take photos, hahaha 🤣 Even one plate looks pretty filling, doesn't it?

The stars of eggs Benedict are the soft egg and the sauce, and here the salmon makes it feel even more upscale 👍🏻

Tender salmon, a rich sauce and the moist poached egg all melt together smoothly in your mouth 🤤

With the grilled tomato and salad alongside, it wasn't too heavy and the balance was good. It looks like brunch and tastes like it too, so it was great for photos and satisfying to eat ✨

What is the smashed avocado?

The smashed avocado at Working Holiday Millak is toasted bread piled with avocado, topped with arugula, cheese and nuts 🥑 It was our second dish, and it looked so pretty 💚

Soft avocado is heaped generously on the toasted bread, with arugula, cheese and nuts on top, so it feels like brunch from the plating alone 💛

Avocado, arugula, cheese and nuts on toasted bread

In the first bite you taste the soft, nutty avocado first, then the fresh arugula, so the whole thing felt light and bright. The nuts you bite into here and there are nutty too, which gives a nice texture.

A little squeeze of lemon makes it fresher with no greasiness, so it was perfect as a brunch dish. 👍🏻 It's light and clean, good for a casual breakfast or lunch, and it went really well with coffee :)
