Assorted sashimi platter B for 3–4 at Hoetjip Jin, Guryongpo, Pohang
In short
Hoetjip Jin is a raw fish, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), snow crab, and gwamegi (dried herring) restaurant between Guryongpo Market and the public parking lot near Guryongpo Port in Pohang. This visit was for the assorted sashimi platter B (serves 3–4, ₩50,000) to go, featuring flounder, rockfish, and yellowtail amberjack, packed in about 20 minutes with ice packs and a full dipping sauce set ready for the hotel room. With free parking and a much cheaper takeout menu than the dine-in one, it's a solid pick for takeout sashimi on a Guryongpo trip.

Fresh sashimi is a must on any Pohang trip, so I visited Hoetjip Jin, a spot that's built a strong word-of-mouth reputation in Guryongpo Market. It's also easily accessible from a Homigot trip route, so this is my honest review of getting an assorted sashimi platter to go from this Guryongpo and Homigot favorite.

Where to park? Free at the Guryongpo Port public lot
There's a spacious public parking lot on the harbor side across from the restaurant, so free parking is easy to find.

The Guryongpo Market public parking lot had plenty of open spots, so parking for free was hassle-free.

Exterior and interior atmosphere
On the first floor, a sign shows this is a raw fish, mulhoe, snow crab, and gwamegi specialist, with a snow crab steamer set up on the sidewalk.
Walking in, you'll see a staircase up to the second floor straight ahead. On either side are four-person tables, plus a baby chair, making this a good Guryongpo, Pohang restaurant for families with young kids.
The fish tank was kept spotlessly clean, and there was a shade screen set up outside to block light.

There were traces of multiple TV appearances and celebrity visits on the walls, which raised my expectations for the food even more.

Takeout menu and gwamegi delivery orders
placeholder
There's a full lineup for dine-in customers — sashimi, meal dishes, gwamegi, and more. In particular, gwamegi, a Pohang specialty, can also be ordered for takeout or delivery.

The takeout menu is priced much lower, so it's easy on the wallet if you're traveling to Pohang and packing food back to your accommodation, like I was. It runs on a cho-jang-jip concept where you pay a per-person seating fee (the sauce fee), and if you pass through the corridor by the kitchen, it connects directly to Guryongpo Market!

You can also walk straight into the restaurant from the Guryongpo Market alley, which makes it a perfect stop after browsing the market.

Assorted Sashimi Platter B (3–4 people) takeout package
I ordered the Assorted Sashimi Platter B (serves 3–4, ₩50,000), and it took about 20 minutes. For a takeout sashimi order, the weight in my hands felt surprisingly substantial — probably because of the ice packs inside.

- Sashimi container (insulated packaging)
- Lettuce and perilla leaves (3 lettuce leaves, 2 perilla leaves)
- Chili peppers + garlic
- Dipping sauce set (soy sauce, wasabi, cho-jang chili sauce, ssamjang)
- 5 pairs of chopsticks

On the gold square tray, the assorted sashimi was neatly arranged with lemon slices and sprouts on top. Overall, the slices were just the right thickness — not too thick, not too thin.

Maybe because it was freshly sliced, the surface had a glossy sheen that made it look really appetizing.

Underneath the sashimi was a coated wood-pattern paper, and beneath that, a large ice pack, so it was cool and stayed fresh even after eating it right away — a nice touch.

Tasting notes by fish — flounder, rockfish, and yellowtail amberjack
The flounder had a firm, chewy texture, and pairing it with rinsed kimchi I'd brought along, plus ssamjang and cho-jang, made for a clean, refreshing bite.

The rockfish had its characteristic texture intact — a solid, crowd-pleasing sashimi that anyone would like.

I was a little worried about the yellowtail amberjack, a fish known for being fishy, but it had almost no fishy taste at all — and unlike the other fish, a rich, savory flavor came through the more I chewed.

Wrap-up — why Guryongpo is good for sashimi takeout
Hoetjip Jin, a Guryongpo favorite, let me eat generously at a reasonable price. Origin labeling was transparently posted, and there was even a waiting list system in place at this Pohang restaurant. Located right in front of the free Guryongpo Port parking lot, it's easy to access, and the insulated packaging was neat and thoughtful — so if you're looking for Guryongpo or Homigot restaurants, I'd recommend getting sashimi to go here.
