Korean BBQ near Hapjeong staffed grilling even at full house: Ijjok

In short

Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal is a Korean BBQ restaurant in the basement level near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. Even during a near-full house, staff grilled the pork belly table by table so the visit stayed all conversation, and the 180g pork belly at ₩16,000 plus the finishing doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) sealed the deal. Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal is a solid pick near Hapjeong Station for friend gatherings or work dinners where you want to talk, not tend a grill.

Kimchi and pork belly table setting at Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal near Hapjeong Station

I was craving pork belly in Hapjeong and came across Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal near Hapjeong Station while searching around. I love the kimchi-and-pork-belly combo so I went in with expectations, and to cut to the chase — I ate really, really well. The meat was great, and the staff were so kind that I felt good the entire meal. If you're looking for a good Korean BBQ restaurant near Hapjeong Station, I recommend this one!

Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal's location and the tableside grilling service

Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal is on B1, 20 Dongmak-ro 3-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

What I liked most is that they grill the meat for you directly. When you go to a Korean BBQ place, eating well matters, but so does being able to focus on the conversation — you know those days when you're too busy worrying about the grill? Here, since the staff grill the meat, my group could just relax and chat while eating.

Attentive service even at nearly full capacity

When I visited, the restaurant was genuinely busy. It felt almost fully booked, and there was a sign asking for customers' understanding if the restaurant got busy.

But seeing it in person, that sign felt almost unnecessary haha. Even though they were that busy, the staff kept going table to table grilling the meat for everyone.

It was impressive watching them run around while still being kind and attentive — you could feel that they were trying their best to take care of everyone even while slammed.

180g pork belly for ₩16,000 — reasonable for Hapjeong

180g for ₩16,000! The price was also a plus. Pork belly, 180g, ₩16,000 — pretty reasonable considering it's in Hapjeong. It feels even more so given how meat prices are these days.

And it wasn't just the price — the meat itself was really delicious. They grill the pork belly nicely, so eating it golden-brown and crispy together with kimchi was a great combination. If you like kimchi samgyeopsal, I think you'll be satisfied with this. One bite of meat with kimchi, then another, and I kept reaching for more. Pork belly really does taste best with kimchi.

Finish with doenjang sulbap — don't skip it

Make sure to order the doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice)! The dish I really want to recommend here is doenjang sulbap. If you're wondering what to finish your meal with after the meat, definitely try it. It was a warm, filling way to end the meal after all that pork belly, and personally I really enjoyed it.

If you'd feel like something's missing just stopping at the pork belly, I recommend ordering the doenjang sulbap alongside it.

A Seogyo-dong Korean BBQ restaurant, good for gatherings and work dinners too

I'd also recommend this as a good Korean BBQ restaurant in Seogyo-dong!! If you're looking for a place to eat meat around Hapjeong or Seogyo-dong, this is worth considering too.

Table setup good for seating a group

Especially when you visit with a group, having staff grill the meat for you is a clear advantage — great for meals with friends, but also as a gathering spot.

The meat was good, the staff were kind, and the price was reasonable — overall a satisfying place on multiple fronts. So if you're looking for a spot for a work dinner near Hapjeong Station, I'd recommend this too. For work dinners, the food matters, but so does being able to talk comfortably as a group, and since the staff grill the meat, that part should be easy here too.

If I ever crave good kimchi samgyeopsal in Hapjeong again, I'd definitely go back to Ijjok Kimchi Samgyeopsal. Especially since the doenjang sulbap was so good, I think next time I'll come back for meat and then finish off the doenjang sulbap properly again.
