Solo dinner at a weekday dachi seat, Pohang Mundeok conveyor sushi

In short

Hojueseo on Hoejeon Chobap is a flat-rate conveyor sushi restaurant near Wondong intersection in Mundeok, Nam-gu, Pohang. Visiting on a weekday around 6pm to a nearly full house, the writer got a dachi (counter) seat and ate everything from salmon, tuna and meat sushi to steamed egg and dessert plates like watermelon and macarons, all at ₩2,200 per plate. With a waiting area that has massage chairs and tablet ordering at every table, it works well for solo diners and families alike.

Signature sushi plate at Hojueseo on Hoejeon Chobap

So good! 🤗🖐🏻 A while back I had some sushi in Seoul that left me pretty disappointed... ㅠㅠ so after I got back to Pohang I kept craving proper sushi and ended up visiting a new conveyor sushi place in my neighborhood, 'Hojueseo on Hoejeon Chobap' (호주에서 온 회전초밥, "Conveyor Sushi from Australia"). The prices were cheap but the quality and taste were great too, so I was so, so satisfied .ᐟ

The reviews were so good that I went in with high expectations.

Massage chairs in the waiting area — what are the seats like?

There was a separate resting space set up .ᐟ Seemed like it was meant for people waiting for a table. I've never seen this kind of thoughtfulness before — they even have massage chairs 🥹🥹

Seating arranged in a long row inside the restaurant

The seats are arranged in a long row. There are tables for 4 with baby chairs, and also dachi (counter) seats that are great for eating solo or with one other person ~

View of the sushi conveyor rail from a dachi seat

I visited on a weekday around 6pm and it was almost fully booked...ᐟ? I got assigned a dachi seat. There was a huge amount of sushi on the conveyor rail 🫢 I could also see sushi being made fresh right in front of me. So cool ~

Every plate of sushi is a flat ₩2,200

You just grab whatever you want off the rail as it spins by .ᐟ There's no price difference by plate — every single piece of sushi is ₩2,200 .ᐟ.ᐟ Amazing, right .ᐟ?

The sushi quality was more than fine — actually, it was fresh and in great condition .ᐟ

For sushi that isn't out on the rail, you can order through the tablet at each table. It's nice being able to get sushi made fresh to order. (( And... for those of us with an I personality like me, being able to order without having to say anything out loud takes the pressure off haha ))

Wasabi and soy sauce are set up nicely at every table ~ and ginger, cho-jang (vinegar chili sauce), pickled radish and rakkyo (pickled shallots) circle by on the rail ~

How were the salmon and tuna sushi?

Salmon ~ tuna ~ salmon ~ the sushi overall was plump and fresh .ᐟ.ᐟ The salmon wasn't just plain salmon either — there was salmon with onion, avocado salmon, salmon belly, and more... so many varieties that you never get bored of one kind and can eat plenty.

Meat sushi and egg sushi, easy for kids to eat too

I have a kid's palate, so I love meat sushi — and here at Hojueseo on Hoejeon Chobap there's a wide variety kids can eat too, like grilled meat sushi, egg sushi, inari (fried tofu pocket sushi), and more .ᐟ For sushi that tastes best warm, the staff will heat it up if you ask them 👍👍 Super kind ~

Soft, fluffy steamed egg

There's steamed egg too ~ completely soft and fluffy ~.~

Dessert includes macarons, pudding, and even fruit

On top of everything, the dessert lineup is perfect too .ᐟ.ᐟ There are sweets like macarons, brownies, pudding, and there's also fruit .ᐟ.ᐟ I love watermelon so I grabbed a piece to try and it was really good 😳😳😳 I wanted to ask where they got it...

Ah, I should really stop eating now ~ I said that and kept eating anyway because it was so good haha. And since it's only ₩2,200 a plate, there's no guilt, so I ate my fill and walked out happy .ᐟ
