Busan BBQ restaurant for two in Gwangalli: scallion pickles at Bisyoku

In short

Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a Japanese-style yakiniku restaurant in Gwangalli, Suyeong, Busan, with paper lanterns, wood and bamboo interiors inspired by Konpachi Nishiazabu in Tokyo. The writer came with her mother and ordered the Yasashi Set (79,000 won) plus a bowl of rice, sharing premium sirloin and pork belly, and asked for a refill of the scallion pickles because they were so good. She missed the indoor snowfall show, but the bar-table mood and thoughtful amenities made Bisyoku Gwangan a Gwangalli spot worth saving for a date or anniversary.

I went to Bisyoku, a Gwangalli favorite. It's open 16:00–24:00 (closed every Tuesday, Sat/Sun from 12:00).

Did you ever watch Japanese anime as a kid and wish you could step into that fantastical world? I found a special Gwangalli meat restaurant that brings back that lost childhood wonder — Bisyoku Gwangan Branch, known for its Japanese-style yakiniku and unmatched mood!

What is Bisyoku Gwangan like inside? A dining room straight out of an anime

1. Tokyo-style lanterns, wood and bamboo at Bisyoku Gwangan

Bisyoku drew inspiration from Tokyo's Konpachi Nishiazabu, using Japanese lanterns, natural wood, and bamboo to create a striking atmosphere. Walk through the door and it feels like stepping into the Dogo hot springs from Spirited Away, or some other dreamy animated world!

2. The only place in Busan where snow falls 365 days a year

Snow is a rare sight in Busan, but Bisyoku pulls off the unusual trick of making it 'snow' indoors every day, year-round! We missed the timing for the snow effect, but we still soaked up the atmosphere sitting at the moody bar table.

Bisyoku Gwangan menu and drink list: set prices and 40-plus drinks

With over 40 kinds of liquor, single glasses, and highballs on offer, this is a great spot for a moody drink on a Gwangalli date. (I skipped the alcohol this time thanks to a recent string of drinking sessions catching up with me 😭)

The cute pig call bell at each Bisyoku table

The bell for calling staff wasn't a plain button — it was a cute little pig figure! Press it and it makes a cheerful 'oink-oink' sound. Even a small detail like this showed real thoughtfulness aimed at sparking that childlike wonder.

Yasashi Set for two (79,000 won): honest review of what you get

I visited with my mom, and we ordered the Yasashi Set plus extra rice. It's a filling, satisfying spread for two adults!

Bisyoku's tidy, unusual side dishes, including the scallion pickles

The side dishes came out beautifully arranged: cucumber pickles, scallion pickles, seasoned radish, and pickled pepper strips. The scallion pickles in particular are genuinely something else! I thought at first it was myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves), but it had a nice crunch and wasn't too salty, cutting right through the richness of the meat. It was so good I asked for a refill. 👍

Grilling service: the staff cook the sirloin and pork belly for you

For the first piece each of beef and pork belly, a staff member kindly grilled it for us personally. After that, we grilled the rest ourselves at our own pace, which made it easy to keep chatting.

Best ways to eat Bisyoku's meat: egg yolk soy sauce and scallion wasabi

The classic first bite, premium sirloin (special soy sauce + egg yolk): I rolled up the first well-grilled beef sirloin and dipped it into the special soy sauce mixed with soft egg yolk — the savoriness and umami exploded and melted right in my mouth.

Pork belly: the staff recommended scallion + wasabi! The scallion and wasabi cut through the pork belly's fattiness perfectly — hands down the best first bite!

Clean salt & wasabi combo: the meat's quality was so good on its own that even a light dip in salt let the juices burst through, and adding a bit of sharp wasabi made it taste cleaner and deeper at the same time.

Freshly cooked white rice + scallion pickles & pepper strips: pile the savory, juicy meat onto rice with the salty, crunchy scallion pickles or the spicy pickled pepper strips, and take a big bite — it's an absolute rice thief.

Pairing with grilled vegetables: eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, onion, and shishito peppers were all grilled to a nice golden brown, and eating them alongside the meat gave a richer range of flavor and texture.

On the way out: the thoughtful restrooms and amenities at Bisyoku

Some meat restaurants really stand out for their thoughtful touches, and Bisyoku was exactly that! Restroom amenities: the restroom had hair ties, dental floss, and cotton swabs, which made it really convenient to freshen up before or after the meal. Perfect for tying your hair back and eating meat comfortably, right?

Fabric deodorizer service: they even had fabric deodorizer on hand to blast away any smoky smell clinging to your clothes on the way out after a satisfying meal! Every little detail showed real care.

Final verdict on Bisyoku Gwangan

A Spirited Away-style atmosphere that stirs up childhood wonder, cute little props and thoughtful details, friendly service, and the meat's flavor enjoyed through so many combos! Bisyoku is a Gwangalli restaurant and Gwangalli date-night bar that leaves a lingering impression long after you get home. Definitely worth a visit with someone special on a special day or anniversary!
