Gwangalli sashimi restaurant birthday course, live octopus: Geumrang

In short

Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is a sashimi restaurant with Gwangan Bridge ocean views on the 6th floor of Marine Rich in Suyeong, Busan. For a parents' birthday, three of us ordered the Subyeon Hansang seaside set for 3 at 60,000 won per person, which brought assorted sashimi with free refills, merou steak (Chilean sea bass), nakji tangtangi (chopped live octopus) and spicy fish stew. With 2-hour parking registered at the public lot right in front, Geumrang Hoetjip is an easy place to bring parents.

For my parents' birthday, my family went to an ocean-view restaurant together.

Ocean view of Gwangan Bridge from Geumrang Hoetjip

After much deliberation about where to go, we booked and visited Geumrang Hoetjip, a Gwangalli sashimi restaurant where you can enjoy fresh sashimi courses with a wide-open view of the Gwangan Bridge.

The food, from composition to taste to service, was all completely satisfying, so let me introduce it.

How to get to Geumrang Hoetjip in Gwangalli, and where to park

Geumrang Hoetjip is on the 6th floor of the Marine Rich building, and there's 2-hour parking registration available at the public lot right in front. Gwangalli is such a popular area that parking worries usually come first when you're driving there.

But this Gwangalli sashimi restaurant we found, Geumrang Hoetjip, has a spacious public parking lot right out front, and they support 2-hour parking registration, which made it really convenient to visit by car.

Elevator and floor signage inside the Marine Rich building

Once inside the building, the clean elevator and floor signage were well organized, so we found our way without any trouble.

The 6th floor dining hall at Geumrang Hoetjip opens right onto the Gwangan Bridge sea view through the windows. The moment we stepped inside, the sweeping ocean scenery outside the windows caught our eyes.

It's not just the best ocean-view space to dine in while admiring a gorgeous view — it's also been selected for the Blue Ribbon Survey's Taste of Busan in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and apparently well-known celebrities have visited too.

This particular visit was to celebrate my parents' birthday, and the upscale, clean atmosphere really made me feel like I was doing right by them — so I'd definitely recommend this Gwangalli sashimi restaurant for bringing your parents.

What the Subyeon Hansang seaside set for 3 includes, and what it costs

What we ordered was Geumrang Hoetjip's Suyeon Hansang course for 3 (₩60,000 per person). From premium assorted sashimi to steamed abalone, merou steak, konowata (salted sea cucumber innards), nakji tangtangi, marinated shrimp, mixed seafood, seaweed soup, butter-grilled scallops, fried dishes, corn cheese, egg roe rice, and finally spicy fish stew — it's a well-packed, high-value premium course.

  • Premium assorted sashimi (with a small refill plate of sashimi included)
  • Steamed abalone, konowata, marinated shrimp, mixed seafood
  • Merou steak (grilled merou), nakji tangtangi
  • Butter-grilled scallops, fried dishes, corn cheese, seaweed soup
  • Finishing egg roe rice and spicy fish stew

Starters: Korean seafood pancake and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup)

Before the main meal, a golden, crispy kimchi pancake and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) seafood came out as light starters to whet our appetite.

The assorted sashimi, neatly plated on stone, looked incredibly fresh just from the sight of it.

A chewy piece of sashimi

The sashimi itself had no fishy smell at all and boasted a chewy, dense texture — and since they also provide a refill of a small sashimi plate, the three of us could enjoy it plentifully without running short.

The side dishes that won me over

Among the various side dishes served, my personal favorite was the sweet-and-tangy seaweed salad, which went really well with the sashimi.

The merou steak (grilled merou), with its soft, moist, appealing sauce, melted in my mouth.

And the nakji tangtangi, so fresh it was still wriggling on the plate, was a real delicacy with its combination of savory sesame oil and shredded seaweed flakes.

Crispy corn fritters and spicy maeuntang fish stew

We got to fully enjoy freshly fried, crispy fritters, and the rich, spicy fish stew that gave the meal a satisfying, refreshing finish.

Why Geumrang Hoetjip works for a parents' birthday dinner

If you're looking to make a choice you won't regret in Gwangalli, or if you're trying to decide on a Gwangalli sashimi restaurant to take someone special for a birthday or other special occasion, I'd recommend this eye-pleasing, ₩60,000-per-person Gwangan Bridge ocean-view course — full and fresh.

And with the convenient parking system on top of everything else, Geumrang Hoetjip really covers both value for money and value for the heart — I recommend giving it a try.
