Jeonpo pork BBQ at opening: 600g rare-cut half set, Dwitdon Sanghoe

In short

Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch is a pork BBQ restaurant in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin, Busan, that grills dwitgogi (pork rare cuts). Arriving right at opening, the order went through the kiosk: the dwitdon half set with 6 rare cuts, 600g, plus a zero-sugar cola, followed by complimentary steamed egg custard and a bowl of naengmyeon (cold noodles) to finish. The pork at Dwitdon Sanghoe was thick and chewy with no gamey smell, and the scallion salad was good enough to explain the regulars.

I've been to a few pork BBQ places in Jeonpo before?! (Not that many, honestly — full confession here) 🤍 But this time I went to Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch and it was so good I think I found the ultimate dwitgogi (pork rare cuts) spot, so I ran straight over to tell you all about it 🤍🤍🤍❕❕❕

Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch right at opening: first impressions

Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch is a dwitgogi (pork rare cut) restaurant located at 141 Dongseong-ro, Busanjin-gu, in Jeonpo-dong, Busan. I went right at opening time, and the staff greeted us so kindly the moment we walked in — touched! They set up the table quickly and the meat we ordered came out fast too, wow, that's what I call customer service 🤍 My expectations went up right from the start!

The menu was all laid out, and the moment I saw it, my heart was already set on the half set...

What comes in the dwitdon half set: 6 rare cuts, 600g

What we ordered was the dwitdon half set! Instead of getting the whole set, going with the half set (6 rare cuts, 600g) felt like the reasonable, smart choice! The whole set comes with 8 rare cuts (800g) plus your choice of small intestine, pork skin, or tail to add on! I'd never even heard of small intestine before this!! They said they only use domestic Korean pork (handon) — heart racing max!!!

What is dwitgogi, the pork rare cuts?

The restaurant had a sign explaining dwitgogi and the meat itself. While waiting, I sneaked a read — apparently dwitgogi typically consists of the back neck meat, cheek meat, double jowl, jaw muscle, snout meat, and under-tongue meat!! The names are unfamiliar, but they all seem to share that springy, chewy texture that's different from pork belly or pork shoulder. That chewy dwitgogi texture is just so good, ugh.

Ahh!! The meat has arrived!!!!! The thickness was so satisfying, so plump. It came out on a wooden board, sorted by cut! They told us to grill the fattier cuts first. The pieces were big so it looked delicious even before cooking, right...?!! The meat looked so fresh I wanted to get it on the grill right away 🤍

The table setting and the scallion salad at Dwitdon Sanghoe

The table setting at Dwitdon Sanghoe Jeonpo was generous too, love that ⁉️⁉️ Lettuce, chili peppers, scallion salad, kimchi, and pickled side dishes came out neatly arranged, plus sauces — seasoned chicken sauce, curry powder, and salt! And the scallion salad here was so good...!❕❕❕❕ Truly that golden-ratio, top-tier scallion salad ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

How the pork tastes grilled: chewy, with no gamey smell

The grill had great heat so the meat cooked fast 🤍🤍🤍 Waiting for the meat is definitely the longest part, am I right...?

It's finally done.... Genuinely no gamey smell at all, and that chewy texture was so good. With the thickness, even one piece was electrifying....!!! They told us to grill the fattier cuts first, and even those turned out chewy and delicious ㅠㅠㅠ Eat one, immediately grab the next piece to grill, eat it, repeat ㅋㅋㅎㅎㅋㅋㅋㅋ Endless energy loop!!!

It's delicious plain too?!! But the scallion salad here is genuinely great!!! Piled lettuce with meat, scallion salad, and garlic for a big wrap-bite, haha.

Self-serve bar, free egg custard, and naengmyeon to finish

The self-serve bar was kept clean, and you could refill all the side dishes there ~~~

And then the complimentary steamed egg custard! It came out still bubbling, and it was genuinely so soft and fluffy. Endless fuel for eating meat nonstop 🤍🤍🤍 It was so good I kept reaching for more 🤍

For the meal, we ordered naengmyeon (cold noodles). Cool noodles plus meat... you know that's an endless-eating combo, right...?!

Why groups fill Dwitdon Sanghoe even at opening time

Even though we went right at opening, group tables kept coming in while we were eating ⁉️ It totally made sense why — the staff were kind, service was quick, and above all, the meat was genuinely delicious❕❕ Exactly the kind of restaurant that would have lots of regulars!!! If you're in Jeonpo looking for the ultimate dwitgogi restaurant?! Why not give Dwitdon Sanghoe, Jeonpo Branch a try?
