Gangneung ocean-view café for mocha buns: Baegya Coffee
In short
Baegya Coffee is a large bakery café opposite Sacheonjin Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon. On the third day of our trip, we had a mocha bun, corn mayo cheese bread, and an iced Americano; the bread and coffee were satisfying, though the late arrival meant the night sea did not photograph well.

Where is it by Sacheonjin Beach, and was parking easy?
On the third day of our Gangneung trip, we visited Baegya Coffee (백야커피), opposite Sacheonjin Beach, for coffee. Its clean, noticeable exterior made it easy to find even on a first visit. There are parking lots in front of and behind the café, and there was plenty of parking space when we visited.
The address is 607 Haean-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon, South Korea. According to the original listing, it is open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with last orders at 8:30 PM, year-round.
Could we enjoy the ocean view late in the evening?
Although it is a café overlooking the sea, we arrived close to last order. It was already dark, so the ocean view did not come through well in our photos, which was disappointing. The interior was comfortable, and after ordering on the first floor, we could sit there or go upstairs to eat.

The interiors on the second and third floors were attractive and good for taking photos. It was a large café extending from the first floor to the fourth-floor rooftop, and high chairs were also available.

Where did we order, and what did we choose?
We chose from the menu and ordered at the counter on the first floor. The staff welcomed us kindly, so ordering felt pleasant.

There was a wide range of coffee and bakery items, so we had trouble deciding what to get. We paired a mocha bun with corn mayo cheese bread and an iced Americano. Considering what we had and the portions, the prices felt reasonable.

What did the mocha bun and corn mayo cheese bread taste like?
The mocha bun and corn mayo cheese bread we ordered looked appetizing. The mocha bun had a rich nutty butter aroma and a sweet mocha scent.

The mocha bun was crisp outside and moist inside, with a pleasant texture. The corn mayo cheese bread was slightly salty, making it nice to alternate with the sweet mocha bun.

Did the iced Americano pair well with the bread?
The iced Americano had slight acidity and a clean finish. A sip after the sweet bread felt refreshing, so it paired well with it.

Having the bread and coffee together made for a filling meal. The sea photos were disappointing because it was nighttime, but we were satisfied with the taste and portions of the bread and the comfortable atmosphere.

Would it suit a date or a visit with children?
The space was large and the atmosphere comfortable, so I felt it would suit spending time with a partner. With high chairs available, it is also a place to consider for a Gangneung outing with children or a family visit.
