In short

Andover is a Western restaurant with the feel of an American neighborhood diner, tucked inside Baekhyeon-dong Café Street in Pangyo, Seongnam. Two people ordered the 650g Andover lasagna and the shrimp bisque pasta, and the bisque sauce was so good that they added a baguette to wipe up every last bit. The Baekhyeon-dong Café Street in Pangyo is full of atmospheric restaurants and cafés, so it's a great spot when you have a meal planned. This time two of us went to Andover. We ordered the 650g Andover lasagna and the shrimp bisque pasta. Both were better than I expected, and the bisque sauce was so good that we added a baguette and wiped up every last bit. From the interior to the taste, the portions and the friendly staff, I was happy with everything, so I wanted to introduce it to you.

What is the atmosphere like inside Andover?

Inside, Andover reminds me of a nice American neighborhood restaurant: upscale yet natural. Once I stepped in, I liked it even more. The interior is tasteful, and it isn't just flashy decoration; the upscale-but-natural feeling really comes through. Refined design and a comfortable mood blend well, so I felt good the whole meal.

Seating and interior at Andover

What impressed me most was that it feels naturally stylish rather than staged. A black-and-white palette with a warm touch made it great for photos, and everything from the tables to the tableware fit together beautifully. It's not a restaurant where you have to be overly formal, yet it feels upscale enough for a special day.

The natural light coming through the windows made the mood even better. It doesn't feel stuffy; it's open, so it was comfortable to chat over a meal. It would suit meeting a friend, a date with a partner, or a family dinner out.

What two people ordered at Andover

The two of us ordered the 650g Andover lasagna and the shrimp bisque pasta. Looking over the menu, there were pastas and lasagna along with a range of other Western dishes. Andover is known for dishes made with house-made sauces and ingredients, and besides the usual pastas there were some distinctive dishes too, so choosing was fun.

Andover's pasta and lasagna menu

We picked the lasagna and the shrimp bisque pasta, which you could call the signature dishes. I went for the 650g lasagna, and it was a generous amount for two to share. With a pasta on top of that, I figured we'd have a hearty meal with nothing lacking.

While waiting for the food, I also really liked how the staff treated us. They guided us kindly from the start and were relaxed during ordering, which left a good impression. Delicious food matters at a restaurant, but the staff's service changes your overall satisfaction, right? Andover was quite satisfying there too.

Andover serves pickles separately for each person

Andover doesn't put the pickles on one shared plate; they prepared them individually to match the number of guests. At Western restaurants, pickles often come on one plate to share, so since two of us visited, I liked that each of us could eat comfortably.

And the pickles were honestly much better than I expected. I usually think of pickles as a side that just refreshes your mouth between bites of pasta. But Andover's pickles tasted good on their own, and I kept reaching for them. They had a nice tang and a crisp texture that was great between bites, and they went well with the dishes with rich sauces.

What does Andover's shrimp bisque pasta taste like?

The shrimp bisque pasta was the most memorable dish of this visit, and its core is the deep savory flavor drawn from the shrimp. I generally like the savory depth of shrimp and seafood, and the flavor of this bisque sauce was truly outstanding. It's the dish I'd especially recommend to anyone looking for pasta in Pangyo.

Andover's shrimp bisque pasta

Bisque is a sauce made by simmering crustaceans for a long time to build a deep flavor. Unlike a typical cream pasta, the rich taste of shrimp really comes through. In Andover's shrimp bisque pasta too, I could taste plenty of the nutty richness and savory depth of seafood in the sauce.

The sauce was quite intense from the very first bite. The deep flavor from the shrimp filled my whole mouth. Still, it wasn't overly heavy or greasy, so I never got tired of it even as I kept eating. I felt the sauce itself was very well made.

Andover's 650g lasagna: portion size and taste

The 650g Andover lasagna was generous enough that one plate alone would be filling. Lasagna is a dish where sauce and cheese come together between layers of pasta sheets. I'd recommend it to anyone who usually likes lasagna.

The moment it arrived, the appetizing look caught my eye. Rich meat sauce and cheese came together, so just looking at it I could expect a full flavor. Cut into a good size, I tasted the savory meat and the nutty cheese between the soft lasagna sheets.

The meat sauce was especially good. The deep flavor of the meat and the savoriness of the tomato sauce balanced well, so it wasn't a lasagna where only the cheese dominates. Eating it with the sheets well soaked in sauce, each ingredient felt in harmony.

I liked the cheese too. Nutty yet soft, it went well with the meat sauce and made the overall taste richer. Lasagna can feel heavy and greasy, but the sauce kept it balanced, so I could enjoy it without feeling weighed down.

The 650g size was a plus too. Regular lasagna can sometimes feel a little small, but this time we ordered a generous size and could fully enjoy it. It was good for two to share along with a pasta, and every bite felt satisfyingly filling.

Lasagna and shrimp bisque pasta: too much for two people?

Ordering the lasagna and the shrimp bisque pasta together at Andover was a good choice. Personally, I think the deep flavor of the sauce is the biggest strength of the shrimp bisque pasta. It has a charm clearly different from a typical tomato or cream pasta, and anyone who loves the savory taste of shrimp will likely be very satisfied. If you want a slightly special pasta dish in Pangyo, I'd recommend this one.

The lasagna was about rich meat sauce and the nuttiness of cheese, while the shrimp bisque pasta centered on the deep flavor of seafood. The flavors went in different directions, so alternating between them never got boring.

Are Andover's facilities and restroom clean?

Not just the dining area but the restroom was kept clean too, which I was happy about. Even at an atmospheric restaurant, a poorly kept restroom changes your overall impression, and Andover felt like it cared about that as well.

Thinking back, the interior really was quite tasteful. It had an upscale yet natural American restaurant feel, with a different charm from the Western restaurants I usually visit. It isn't overdecorated; comfort and refinement coexist, so it's the kind of place where you want to stay a long time.

Why I'd go back to Andover in Pangyo

Overall, Andover excelled in atmosphere, service, taste and friendliness. The portions are generous and each dish has a clear personality, so it was great for two people to share a variety of dishes. I especially liked the tasteful interior and the upscale-yet-natural mood.

If you're looking for a good pasta restaurant in Pangyo, Andover is worth a visit. The lasagna with rich meat sauce and cheese is tasty, but personally I'd really recommend the shrimp bisque pasta. The bisque sauce is so good that you end up ordering a baguette too, and it's a restaurant I'd love to revisit to try other dishes.
