Jongno sushi restaurant with kaisendon: Choe Uyeong Sushiya
In short
Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch is a Japanese restaurant in Jongno, Seoul, for a neat sushi meal near Jonggak Station and Gwanghwamun. We ordered premium sushi, special sushi, and special kaisendon for 33,000 and 19,000 won. Verdict: the seafood-topped kaisendon was especially appetizing.

A new sushi restaurant near Jonggak Station
I’d like to introduce a newly opened sushi restaurant near Jonggak Station.
Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch

It has only just opened, so the entrance was full of congratulatory flower wreaths. A promising sushi spot in Jonggak.

There was also a kiosk on the right side of the entrance where you could order takeaway sashimi right away, which was convenient.

There was a bar table in the center, with partitions around it, giving it the feel of open private-room seating, which I liked.

It was also a comfortable place to talk, so when I visited in the evening there were lots of diners having drinks and company dinners. We sat in a comfortable spot. There was a kiosk on the table, making it easy to order.

The menu was quite varied, with individual dishes and many types of rice bowls, so it was nice to be able to choose according to your taste.
Sides and house-made soy sauce before the order

They also brought wasabi. For reference, there was house-made soy sauce on the table, so you could pour as much as you wanted. You could tell when dipping the sushi in it: the soy sauce had a deep flavor.

I put rakkyo (pickled scallion bulbs) and ginger in the small dishes that were provided.
Premium sushi, special sushi, and special kaisendon

And soon, the dishes we ordered arrived!

Kaisendon (a seafood rice bowl) is a dish with several kinds of seafood in one bowl to eat with rice, so its advantage is that you can enjoy a variety of flavors at once rather than just one type of fish.
I usually like sashimi too, so when the kaisendon topped with several kinds of seafood arrived, all the different seafood over the rice looked appetizing as well.

For lunch plans near Jonggak Station and Gwanghwamun
When making lunch plans around Jonggak Station and Gwanghwamun, there are so many menu choices that it can be hard to decide. This is a good Jongno sushi spot to stop by on a day when you want a neat sushi meal.
