Daejeon rooftop restaurant for pasta and pizza: Someday Romance

In short

Someday Romance is a rooftop restaurant on the sixth floor of Save Zone in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. We shared bulgogi pizza, Toowoomba pasta, aglio e olio, and iced Americanos for 49,800 won. Verdict: a great choice for a full meal with a resort-like atmosphere.

Want to suddenly feel like you are at a Southeast Asian resort right in the middle of downtown Dunsan-dong, Daejeon? This time, I went to Someday Romance🌴 It is on the sixth floor of Save Zone in Dunsan-dong, so just take the elevator up and you will find it right away. And for anyone driving, being able to use Save Zone's parking lot is a plus—one less thing to worry about! Since it is right in the center of Dunsan-dong, it is easy to get to and perfect for stopping by after shopping or running errands.

A rooftop dome in downtown Dunsan-dong

More than anything, this is not just an ordinary indoor brunch café—it is a space where you can enjoy a Southeast Asian-inspired vibe on a rooftop, so the atmosphere feels totally different 🌿 You are up on top of a building in the city, but it almost feels like you have slipped away on a quick trip. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a Dunsan-dong date spot or café where you can enjoy not only brunch but also a proper atmosphere.

The outdoor dome area is especially Someday Romance's standout feature✨ Sitting inside one of these round domes, you can almost forget that you are in the middle of the city. During the day, sunlight comes in and gives it a relaxed, exotic feel; after sunset, the lighting and mood turn it into what feels like a completely different space. It is the same seat, but day and night feel entirely different, so its charm changes depending on when you visit!

An indoor space to enjoy regardless of the weather

The indoor area has a different kind of charm too~🌿 The interior was clean overall, with Southeast Asian-inspired touches, so it felt a little different from an ordinary brunch café. Plants and wood-toned accents around the space made it feel warm and comfortable! The tables were not cramped together, and each seat had a slightly different mood, which made choosing one that suited your taste fun too. I especially liked that you can relax indoors without worrying about the weather. The daytime mood of enjoying the sunshine in an outdoor dome is lovely, but this is also just the right space for a comfortable brunch and a chat indoors🤍

From pasta to 40 cm calzones

If you assumed it was a brunch café just from the atmosphere, the menu might surprise you again👀 There was a pretty wide range of meal options, from pasta and risotto to pilaf, pizza, and salad. You can choose lighter dishes such as aglio e olio and myeongran pasta (pollock roe pasta), or pick according to your taste from cream pasta, perilla-seed cream pasta, Toowoomba pasta, and ragù pasta. There are risotto and pilaf options too, so if you visit as a group, everyone can order what they want and share.

The menu that really caught my eye at Someday Romance was the 40 cm calzone! From cream calzone to Toowoomba calzone and ragù calzone, it is a fun option for anyone looking for something a little different from regular pizza or pasta. The pizzas also come in a 14-inch size, with varieties including potato, bulgogi, sweet potato, shrimp, and ricotta cheese salad pizza, making it a good lineup for everything from brunch to a hearty meal! There are plenty of drinks too, including coffee, ade, and shakes, so it is nice for lingering after your meal. The space has a resort-like vibe, but the menu is quite serious—this is not a café where you only take photos and leave, but somewhere to have a proper meal and take a break😃

Self pickup and parking validation

Rather than staff bringing food to your table, it is a self-service system where you collect your food from the pickup zone. After ordering, follow the buzzer or instructions to collect your food there, and pick up any cutlery or wet wipes you need from the self-service bar! Once you are done eating, do not leave everything on the table—simply return it yourself at the tray-return station! And if you came by car, do not forget to validate your parking before you leave✔️ Since it is inside the Save Zone building, it is best to check that your parking has been validated before heading out after your meal.

Our order: bulgogi pizza and three pasta dishes

  • Bulgogi pizza + Toowoomba pasta + 2 drinks set ₩37,900
  • Aglio e olio ₩11,900

We ordered the set, so drinks were included, and chose two iced Americanos! That was honestly an excellent choice♥️ When you are eating pizza and pasta, your palate can start to feel heavy, but the cold, clean iced Americanos cut through it perfectly and paired so well with the food. Especially since we had cream-based Toowoomba pasta that day, I was really glad we chose iced Americanos. Now, let the real food feast begin😎

The sweet-savory, nutty flavor of bulgogi pizza

First up, the bulgogi pizza, which grabbed my attention from the moment I saw it 🍕 True to Someday Romance's style, the generously sized pizza came topped with plenty of bulgogi, so my anticipation was already rising before I even picked up a slice! Lift a slice while it is hot and the cheese stretches beautifully, while sweet-savory bulgogi and rich cheese come together in a familiar but delicious first bite. The bulgogi was nicely salty and sweet, so the pizza was never bland, and the cheese's savory richness kept me reaching for more. The crust was not too thick either, which made it easy to really taste the toppings and cheese. Most of all, bulgogi pizza is a flavor with very little room for disagreement, so it is a low-risk choice when several people are struggling to decide what to order!

Rich and thick Toowoomba pasta

The second contender was Toowoomba pasta 🍝 The noodles were thoroughly coated in creamy sauce, and it looked rich and thick even before tasting it! One bite brought smooth cream sauce with Toowoomba's distinctive savory depth, making it different from a cream pasta that is simply rich. The sauce clung quite heavily to the noodles, so every forkful came with full sauce flavor, and it also went well eaten alongside the pizza. The thick, creamy Toowoomba pasta was especially good after the sweet and salty bulgogi pizza. I came for the atmosphere but ended up having a genuinely satisfying meal too, so I recommend it to anyone looking for great pasta in Daejeon!

A clean finish with aglio e olio

And we ordered one more dish: aglio e olio 🍝 After the cream-based Toowoomba pasta, this clean oil pasta was a welcome change of pace! A gentle garlic aroma came through, while the oil sauce coated the noodles moistly, tasting light yet savory. It had a different appeal from the deeply sauced Toowoomba, so I was glad we ordered both. The rich thickness of Toowoomba + the clean simplicity of aglio e olio + the sweet-savory nuttiness of bulgogi pizza: sharing these three dishes between two people meant the flavors never overlapped, so we could enjoy them without getting tired of anything until the end.

Someday Romance let us enjoy both an exotic atmosphere and a meal in the heart of Dunsan-dong🌴 The outdoor domes have a different mood in the daytime and at night, making them fun to experience at different times, and the varied menu works for everything from brunch to a hearty meal!
