Bangi-dong osori gukbap set with boiled pork: Boseung Hoegwan
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a sundaeguk (pork and blood sausage soup) restaurant at 101 Ogeum-ro in Songpa, Seoul, on the Bangi-dong food alley, open 24 hours on weekdays. The writer ordered the osori gukbap set for 16,000 won and the hangover ramyeon for 12,500 won, spooning soup over a heaping bowl of rice and adding boiled pork and glass-noodle sundae. The chewy osori pork and the sheer size of the rice bowl made this a far heartier meal than a single bowl of gukbap.

A Bangi-dong food alley favorite near Jamsil, and a sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) spot — Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch.

Finding a gukbap restaurant on Bangi-dong food alley
Lately, after a long day, I've found myself craving a warm bowl of soup more than usual. Especially on busy days — instead of grabbing bread or something quick, I really wanted hot soup with a proper bowl of rice.

By the time I checked my schedule I was pretty hungry, and I happened to be passing by Bangi-dong food alley, so I thought "gukbap it is!" and headed to Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch.

They also have a solo special set and a sundae + pork jowl set, so there's plenty of choice if you want gukbap and boiled pork together.

Hangover ramyeon, 12,500 won with rice included

The ramyeon arrived piping hot with steam rising off it, and that's exactly when I suddenly got hungrier, haha.

True to its name, the hangover ramyeon broth was warm with a spicy kick, so I kept going back for spoonful after spoonful.

I love mixing rice into ramyeon broth, so I was glad it came with a bowl of rice already! Eating the ramyeon and then the rice made it a pretty filling meal on its own.
Ramyeon + meat = a combo that can't fail...
The 16,000-won osori gukbap set comes with boiled pork

After a short wait, my oworisori gukbap set arrived! With a bowl of gukbap and boiled pork together, the table suddenly filled up completely, haha.

The boiled pork was good plain, but dipped in salted shrimp or the side condiments it got that extra savory-salty edge that paired really well with rice.

My personal number one was the glass noodle sundae... ♡
What does osori pork taste like? Chewy, springy bites

With gukbap, I usually taste the broth first, then mix in the rice little by little.

So that's what I did this time too — one spoonful of broth, then a bit of rice mixed in. And I tried a piece of the oworisori along with it!

Oworisori has a springy, chewy texture unlike regular meat, so there's real bite to it. People who prefer softer meat might find it different from what they're used to, but I actually really liked that chewiness.

If you usually only order sundaeguk, the oworisori gukbap is worth trying once! Note that the gukbap comes with spicy sauce mixed in already — you can choose whether to include it when you order, so watch out for that!
How big is the rice? A heaping bowl, literally

What surprised me most that day was the amount of rice. It was genuinely a heaping mound of rice, haha, and I loved it...

That day I really got my fill of rice, haha. Mixing the heaping rice into the broth, topping it with a piece of oworisori, sneaking in bites of boiled pork here and there, occasionally spooning up the hangover ramyeon broth too... writing about it makes me want to eat it all over again, haha.
The oworisori gukbap had that chewy texture, so it felt different from a regular sundaeguk or pork gukbap, and with boiled pork included in the set, it was much more filling than gukbap alone.
If you're near Jamsil or Bangi-dong looking for hot gukbap or a hangover meal, this place is worth a stop :) Next time I visit I'll try the dishes I missed this time! Thanks for the meal today 🤍
