This weekend's find near Jongak Station was Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon, a beef noodle spot near Gwanghwamun! I love the chewy texture of dosakmyeon (knife-cut noodles) so I eat it often, and this time at Cheonghwa I tried the Sichuan-style beef dosakmyeon and completely fell for it haha. You can walk here from either Jongak Station or Gwanghwamun Station — just head toward the alley behind the Olive Young in Jongno's Pimatgol, and you'll find it easily.
Busy even at 2:30pm on a late lunch
We arrived at this Gwanghwamun beef noodle spot around a slightly awkward 2:30pm, and even though lunch hour was well past, there were still plenty of people eating! The crowd was mixed too haha — foreigners, young women dining solo, families, older folks, all sorts. The interior was on the smaller side but clean and comfortable, not a single inconvenience.

The signature menu at this Gwanghwamun beef noodle spot is, of course, the uyuk dosakmyeon! There's a regular beef noodle and a Sichuan-style version. We always order the regular, but this time we went for Sichuan-style! There were also lots of rice bowls — the eggplant bowl here is really good! For dim sum there's shumai and xiaolongbao haha. I've tried both kinds of dim sum and they're both delicious!!!

Especially the Sichuan-style beef noodles — the moment it arrived, the mala aroma hit and I just knew it was going to be exactly my style haha.

Sichuan-style beef noodles ₩11,000. First up is the dish I was most excited for haha. With the Sichuan-style beef noodles, you need to stir everything well so the toppings on top mix in properly! If you eat it right away without mixing it can taste a bit bland, but once mixed it's completely on point👍🏻 The broth is so much my style!!!!
At this Gwanghwamun beef noodle spot, the Sichuan-style beef noodles will absolutely be a hit if you love mala soup! It's basically dosakmyeon dropped into mala broth!! The mala flavor isn't too intense either, so even people who can't handle mala can enjoy it a lot!! The noodles had great texture and it was really delicious haha.
Xiaolongbao ₩9,800 disappears in one bite
Xiaolongbao ₩9,800. For dim sum at this Gwanghwamun beef noodle spot we ordered xiaolongbao! I always order xiaolongbao whenever I come here haha. It's packed full of broth inside, so don't break it open — pop the whole thing in your mouth in one bite haha. That rich, savory broth just gushes out haha.

Yuxiang eggplant rice bowl ₩10,800. Another dish I always order at this Gwanghwamun beef noodle spot is the yuxiang eggplant rice bowl!! I genuinely love eggplant so I love eggplant dishes in general haha. It's fried eggplant coated in sauce over rice, and as expected it was so delicious haha.
To sum up
A slightly late lunch trip to Cheonghwa Uyuk Dosakmyeon, this Gwanghwamun beef noodle spot!! There wasn't a single dish that wasn't delicious — a real find near Gwanghwamun and Jongak haha. If you like dosakmyeon or Chinese food in general, definitely check it out!!!!
