Dating in Gwangalli, Busan, dinner is always a bit of a puzzle, isn't it? After staring at the sea for a while, somehow the smell of grilling meat starts pulling at me even more. This time I really wanted to skip the hassle of grilling everything myself and just relax into a proper meal out.

So the place I found was "Gwangan-mok." A restaurant that ages pork neck and pork belly and has staff grill it for you sounded perfect for a proper Gwangalli date without the extra work.

Where is Gwangan-mok? Walking time from Gwangan Station and Gwangalli Beach
Gwangan-mok Gwangan Branch is on Gwangnam-ro in Suyeong-gu, Busan, so it wasn't hard to find from Gwangalli. It's within walking distance from Gwangan Station toward Gwangalli Beach.

It's also close to Gwangalli Beach, so it was easy to fit into a date route.

A course that goes from ocean views in Busan straight into a meat dinner — I really love that kind of flow. Outside Gwangan-mok, you can actually see the aging meat with your own eyes.

Dry-aged pork at Gwangan-mok sells out: only so many portions a day
Seeing the meat prepared through "dry aging" raised my expectations right away. Gwangan-mok apparently limits how much it sells per day to maintain the quality of the aging.
If you really want the pork neck or pork belly, it's worth checking before showing up late. I actually saw reviews mentioning full seating and waiting lines in the evening.

It clearly has the vibe of a restaurant that's already word-of-mouth famous in Gwangalli, Busan. If you're visiting for a date or a family meal, it seems worth making a reservation.

Inside Gwangan-mok: interior and seating
Walking in, the first thing you notice at Gwangan-mok is the deep wood-toned interior. Overall it's clean and comfortable, giving it a surprisingly nice atmosphere for a grill restaurant.
The seats are also spaced out generously, which makes conversation easy on a date. It also seems like a fine spot for a group meal if several of you come out to Gwangalli, Busan together.
How the staff grilling works: 10–15 minutes of charcoal searing
What stood out most at Gwangan-mok was the large grill set up near the entrance. This isn't a place where the pork neck and belly go straight onto your table's grill from raw.
Staff use charcoal heat and smoke to pre-grill the meat first. This pre-grilling step apparently takes around 10 to 15 minutes.
After that, it's finished to the right doneness right at your table, ready to eat. I genuinely loved this part.
Especially in Busan's hot weather, dating in Gwangalli and then having to grill meat yourself can wear you out before you even eat. At Gwangan-mok, having the pork neck and belly grilled for you made things so much easier.

A restaurant like this would make dining with parents much more relaxed too, not just dates.
Parking near Gwangan-mok: where to leave your car
Gwangan-mok apparently doesn't have its own dedicated parking lot. Still, given how many people drive to Gwangalli, Busan for dates, that's worth knowing.
The nearby lot Gwangan-mok recommends is the "Gwangan Signal Parking Tower." Based on the visit information I was given, it supports ₩1,000 per hour.
Another nearby lot mentioned is the Kakao T Gwangalli Beach lot. However, that one apparently offers no parking support.
If I were visiting on a weekend, I'd check parking availability first. Gwangalli itself gets a lot of date-night visitors, so parking gets tricky depending on the time.
It'd be such a shame to go for the pork neck and belly and end up worn out over parking instead. If you're heading to Gwangan-mok in Gwangalli, Busan, look up nearby parking info ahead of time.
Gwangan-mok menu and prices
On the Gwangan-mok menu, the aged meat options catch your eye first. "Dry-aged pork neck" is ₩14,500, and "dry-aged premium pork belly" is also ₩14,500.

Gwangan-mok's skirt meat is ₩15,000, and the "Only Gwangalli" set is ₩49,000. That set is apparently limited to 5 per day, letting you try pork neck, premium belly and whole jowl together.

On a day when you want to try multiple cuts, a set like this is really tempting. It also seems great for a date, sharing pork neck and belly evenly.

Set A is ₩57,000 for 2 people, and Set B is ₩82,000 for 3 to 4 people. There's also a fairly wide range of side dishes. Cheesy kimchi fried rice is ₩8,000, and cold pork bibim noodles are ₩7,000.

Dongchimi cold noodles are also ₩7,000, and doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean stew) is ₩6,000. Pudding-style steamed egg is ₩4,500, so the meal lineup felt quite generous. On days in Gwangalli, Busan when you want a full meal rather than just meat, Gwangan-mok's menu range was a nice surprise.
How did the dry-aged pork neck and belly taste?
Finally, the pork neck and belly I'd been waiting for arrived looking delicious. Gwangan-mok's meat is apparently pre-grilled slowly, letting the charcoal heat and smoke soak in.

It's a method meant to keep as much moisture inside the meat as possible while adding smoky flavor. Since staff finish grilling it again at your table, you get it at just the right moment.

From the first bite of pork neck, I understood why there's a wait. The outside was golden brown while the inside kept a juicy tenderness. The more I chewed, the more savory flavor came through, with a light smoky note on top.

Pork neck with anchovy salt
The "anchovy salt" made in-house at Gwangan-mok especially stuck with me. A light touch on the pork neck was savory without being too salty. Rather than covering up the flavor of the meat, it brought the flavor out.

Pork belly with chimichurri and basil wraps
The pork belly had a rich, savory quality that gave it a different charm from the pork neck.
It too was browned outside and juicy inside. Pairing it with "chimichurri" cleaned up the richness nicely.

Even the aroma from dangwi (Korean angelica) leaves and perilla leaves paired surprisingly well with the pork belly. I was especially curious about the "basil wrap." Putting pork belly on lightly grilled basil, then adding chimichurri on top, cut through the richness of the belly while bringing out a fragrant flavor.

That combination had a fun quality that clearly set it apart from an ordinary grill restaurant meal. The grilled vegetables served alongside — potato, corn, tomato — were also a nice touch.
Since the pork neck and belly kept arriving perfectly grilled without us having to do it ourselves, the conversation never got interrupted on our date, and I really appreciated that.
At a grill restaurant, it's easy for one person to end up stuck grilling the whole time. At Gwangan-mok, we both got to eat comfortably and focus on the meal itself.

Is Gwangan-mok worth another Gwangalli date night dinner?
If you're looking for a satisfying meal after a Gwangalli, Busan date, or craving a place that properly grills pork neck and belly for you, Gwangan-mok delivers the juiciness of dry-aged meat along with a smoky flavor.

With the Gwangalli, Busan location added on top, it's an easy way to flow from a date straight into dinner, and a restaurant I'd think of again for enjoying pork neck and belly without any of the grilling hassle.
