Daehangno pasta restaurant with NFC ordering and beet pickles: Omil
In short
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a casual fusion Western restaurant on the second floor of a building on Daemyeong-gil, a 2-minute walk (163m) from Hyehwa Station Exit 4 in Jongno, Seoul. After a weekend wait, two diners ordered three a la carte dishes at Omil — gochujang butter pasta (18,900 won), Chong Chong Chong! Rubber Duck Omurice (16,900 won) and Omil soba maki (12,900 won) — and used the self-serve homemade beet pickle bar and the NFC table ordering tag. Both the look and the taste delivered, making Omil Hyehwa Daehangno a date spot worth booking before or after a Daehangno play.

Today I visited a casual dining spot near Hyehwa Station in Daehangno that's become known for its adorable visuals — Omil Hyehwa Daehangno (오밀 혜화 대학로). It's a well-known Hyehwa pasta restaurant serving a cute rubber duck omurice and a spicy, savory gochujang butter pasta. Here's my honest review after finally getting a table past the weekend wait. Starting with a 3-second summary!

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno in 3 seconds: hours, address, prices
🧱 Jangdol's 3-second breakdown
- One-line review: A place that wins you over twice — once with your eyes, once with your mouth! Cute, tightly composed plating and a thick, rich fusion pasta that genuinely delivers.
- Recommended for: Couples looking for a foolproof, mood-setting date course before or after a Daehangno play, and anyone who loves cute visuals paired with distinctive fusion Western food.
- Jangdol score: ⭐️ 5.0 / 5.0 (every dish is excellent in both looks and taste, and even the sides are well made, but the space is small and popular, so waiting during peak hours is a must)
- 📍 Location: 2F, 35 Daemyeong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul (2-min walk, 163m, from Hyehwa Station Exit 4)
- 📍 Hours: 11:30–21:15 (break time 15:15–16:30 / last order 20:30 / open daily)
- 📍 Parking: No dedicated lot at the restaurant (nearby paid private lots or the Korea National Open University public lot recommended)
- 💡 Jangdol's visit tip: Waits can get long during peak hours, so aim for right after break time ends. If you order the rubber duck omurice, you can keep the rubber duck figure that comes with it as a souvenir!
How to walk to Omil from Hyehwa Station Exit 4, and the dining room

Walk a short way from the main street at Hyehwa Station Exit 4 toward Sungshin Women's University direction, and you'll find this building. On the second floor, above a brick exterior, hangs a yellow awning with a cute smiley logo reading 'Eat, Smile, Love' — it catches your eye from a distance.
Stepping inside, the restaurant was already full of couples and other diners enjoying their dates. The tables were neatly spaced, and the white-and-wood curved interior gave off a cozy yet lovely mood.

NFC tag ordering and the homemade beet pickle self-serve bar at Omil
Once seated, every table has an NFC order tag attached. Just tap your phone near it — no need to call a staff member — and you can check the menu and place your order all at once. Super convenient.

There's a clean, well-organized self-service corner on one side of the restaurant. You can press the lever on the water dispenser yourself for cold water, and help yourself to as much of the crunchy, tangy homemade beet pickles as you like — everything kept hygienically.

What three a la carte dishes for two cost at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno
Looking through the menu, there's a well-composed set for two as well as plenty of distinctive fusion dishes. We ordered the signature gochujang butter pasta (₩18,900), the visually striking Chong Chong Chong! Rubber Duck Omurice (₩16,900), and, as a side, the omil soba maki (₩12,900).

How does the gochujang butter pasta (18,900 won) taste?
The gochujang butter pasta arrived first, and it was the dish that impressed me most this visit. The thick, rich cream sauce carried a gentle spiciness from the gochujang (Korean chili paste), so it wasn't greasy at all. Mixing in the round pat of butter on top while it's still hot brings out a nutty flavor that clings beautifully to the noodles. Add in the meat on top, and every bite was pure happiness... hahaha.

Chong Chong Chong! Rubber Duck Omurice, 16,900 won, with a duck toy
Next up was the Chong Chong Chong! Rubber Duck Omurice, and the visuals had me gasping. Lol. Under a tiny parasol, adorable little quail-egg ducks huddle together — almost too cute to eat. Inside the soft swirl of egg is a generous mound of fried rice, all wrapped in a sweet-salty demi-glace sauce — a flavor that pleases everyone, no exceptions.

(※ You're told you can keep the yellow rubber duck toy that comes with the dish, so it felt like getting a cute little souvenir too. Haha.)
Omil soba maki, 12,900 won: the side dish worth adding
Lastly, the omil soba maki, which we ordered as a side without much expectation, was a total hit! Chewy buckwheat noodles are rolled tightly in seaweed instead of rice, packed inside with soft, sweet Japanese-style egg roll and crunchy cucumber. A little wasabi on top made it a perfect match with the pasta... highly recommend as a side.
Is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno worth it? Verdict and visit tips
Honest review: This isn't a place focused purely on photogenic looks. The richness of the gochujang butter pasta, the moist texture of the omurice, and the clean flavor of the soba maki all came together perfectly. Thanks to the cute plating, conversation never stopped throughout the meal — I'd highly recommend this Hyehwa pasta restaurant as a Daehangno date spot.
- Timing tip: Waits can happen during weekend and weekday lunch peak hours. I'd recommend putting your name down for the wait as soon as you arrive!
- Parking info: Since there's no dedicated lot, the easiest options are taking public transit to Hyehwa Station or parking at the nearby Korea National Open University public lot and walking over.
- Recommended combo: If visiting as a pair, go for the gochujang butter pasta + rubber duck omurice combo, and definitely add the omil soba maki as a side. It's the perfect kick to cut through the richness.
