Pyeongtaek charcoal galbi restaurant, 280g boneless serving: Ihwajeong

In short

Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi restaurant at 1662 Manse-ro in Jukbaek-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. Two diners ordered 3 servings of seasoned pork galbi for 51,000 won with bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) for 8,000 won and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) for 5,000 won, and the standouts were the 280g boneless galbi per serving and the seasoned crab banchan. The seasoning at Ihwajeong is mild rather than salty, which makes it an easy choice for a work dinner or a family meal with older relatives.

Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi is where I went for pork galbi in Pyeongtaek. It's a charcoal pork galbi restaurant at 1662 Manse-ro, Jukbaek-dong, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do. I'd been craving pork galbi for a while, so I visited this Jukbaek-dong, Pyeongtaek local favorite :)

Notice on how to eat the galbi more deliciously

The 280g boneless charcoal pork galbi and the banchan

Ihwajeong's seasoned pork galbi isn't 180g or 200g — it's a whopping 280g, and boneless too. It's grilled right over charcoal, and you could tell, because the meat had that subtle smoky charcoal aroma. Pork galbi really does taste best grilled over charcoal, haha.

Side dishes including japchae, radish salad, and seasoned crab

A generous spread of side dishes — japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), salad, garlic scapes, spicy radish salad, seasoned crab, and dressed lettuce salad. We ordered 3 servings and got this much banchan!

The doenjang jjigae, ₩5,000, was packed with meat. It went so well with the pork galbi and rice. Bibim naengmyeon, ₩8,000 — you can't skip cold noodles with meat, right? Eating it wrapped with the meat is an amazing combo.

Something I quietly pay attention to at any barbecue place is the side dishes that come with the meal, and here everything came out clean and well put together! Even for two people, it was really generous. There were lots of different banchan, many of them great to eat with the meat — the seasoned crab in particular stood out.

I'd been craving crab lately, so getting it at a galbi restaurant was such a bonus. Perfect with plain white rice. Definitely order a bowl of rice! Eating a bite of seasoned crab between bites of meat worked really well.

The house-made ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) makes it even better.

Best ssam (lettuce wrap) combo and the pear smoothie finish

Pork galbi has to be wrapped in lettuce! I recommend the combo of pickled onion + garlic + cheongyang chili + spicy radish salad!

Bibim naengmyeon paired with pork galbi

Wrapping the meat with bibim naengmyeon is also a delicious combo. Between the 3 servings of pork galbi, the noodles, and the stew with rice, the two of us left completely full.

Pear smoothie served at the end of the meal

We finished with a pear smoothie. Cool and clean-tasting, perfect for cleansing the palate. A flavor everyone, young or old, will like!

Is Ihwajeong good for a work dinner or family meal?

Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi is a place where the seasoning isn't too strong overall and the side dishes come out clean, so it's comfortable to eat at. I'd recommend it as a spot for work dinners or gatherings. I'd also recommend it if you're looking for somewhere to eat with older family members, or looking for a clean pork galbi restaurant in Pyeongtaek.

I visited craving pork galbi after a while, and the seasoning wasn't overpowering, so it was easy to enjoy, and finishing off with naengmyeon and stew left us really full :) If you're looking for pork galbi or charcoal galbi in Pyeongtaek, give Ihwajeong Charcoal-Grilled Pork Galbi a try!
