Korean BBQ open till 4am in Yongmun-dong, Daejeon: Yeontansidae
In short
Yeontansidae (연탄시대) is a grilled meat and drinking-snack restaurant in Yongmun-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, open every day from 6pm until 4am the next morning. The writer ordered gukmul dakbal (soupy spicy chicken feet) and margarine soy sauce egg rice, alternating between heat and savory richness, and made dalgona (Korean honeycomb candy) at the table while waiting. With the meat arriving fully grilled, Yeontansidae works well for late-night gatherings and work dinners near Yongmun Station.

Today I went to Yeontansidae in Yongmun-dong. If you want to hang out in Daejeon until 4am, Yeontansidae is the move.

Where is Yeontansidae and what are its hours?
Yeontansidae is on the 1st floor of 383 Dosol-ro, Seo-gu, Daejeon, South Korea. It's open every day from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM the next day, and parking is available.

How much has the Yeontansidae menu changed?
The Yeontansidae menu has changed a lot! Sob... the beef short rib slices used to be so good but they're gone now. So sad. Instead they've added a lot of drinking snacks like gopdoritang, boneless chicken feet, nakgopsae, and more.

What is the restaurant like inside?
The interior has changed too! Totally clean and tidy now. There's no fire pit at each table anymore, which honestly makes it even better!

Side dishes served at Yeontansidae
Wow, the seaweed soup is amazing~ Really rich and savory, not too heavy. So good.

And here's the 550cc beer. Absolutely delicious. So refreshing and slightly sweet,,

Making dalgona candy before the food arrives
Legendary dagona (Korean honeycomb candy) making. Perfect as a simple little activity before the food and drinks arrive.

It really turned out well~~~ Maybe because I made it myself, it tasted even better haha.

Soupy spicy chicken feet and margarine soy sauce egg rice
That day at Yeontansidae we ordered soupy chicken feet (국물닭발) and margarine soy sauce egg rice (마가린간장계란밥). The chicken feet had a shallow pool of broth, so it was great for scooping up with the feet, and it was much less spicy than I expected — just mildly spicy. It wasn't the kind of heat that hits you all at once, more like a subtle spiciness that builds as you eat!
The broth is totally my style. They told us to let it reduce a bit before eating.

The soupy chicken feet and margarine soy sauce egg rice combo worked way better together than I expected! The egg rice has margarine in it so it's savory and salty, and eating it with the spicy chicken feet toned down the heat just right while keeping me reaching for more…

Eating chicken feet, then a spoonful of egg rice, then back to chicken feet — that kind of flavor that keeps you going~ If you like spicy food, I'd say order this combo.
The meat arrives fully grilled
Yeontansidae had a variety of meat dishes too, and the seasoned galbi (양념갈비) seemed to be a popular one. One of the best things about this place is that the meat comes already grilled!
When you have to keep flipping and grilling the meat yourself, it's hard to talk and you have to keep watching the meat the whole time. Here, it comes out ready to eat, so it's especially convenient when you're with a group. That kind of detail actually matters a lot when you're there for a work dinner or gathering.

Who should go to Yeontansidae?
Instead of just eating and leaving, you actually get to make your own dagona, and doing it again after a long time was more fun than I expected. Melting the sugar and shaping it while trying not to mess it up was oddly fun too~~ You can even take home the finished dagona nicely shaped, making it a nice light thing to do after the meal.
If you're looking for a place in Yongmun-dong where you can eat everything from grilled meat to chicken feet, Yeontansidae is worth a visit. It seemed like a solid option especially if you're looking for a place to eat late at night or somewhere to host a group gathering.
