Ulsan terminal milmyeon restaurant with dumplings: Samsam Milmyeon

While looking for somewhere to have lunch in Ulsan, I was craving milmyeon, so we headed to Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch (삼삼밀면 본점). It is fairly close to the Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal, so it seemed like a good option for anyone looking for a meal near the terminal too. It would also be nice to stop in for milmyeon at lunchtime on a day spent exploring around the terminal as part of an Ulsan trip!

Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch basics

The address is 7 Hwahap-ro 125beon-gil, Nam-gu, Ulsan, and it is open daily from 10:30 AM to 9 PM. There is one hour of parking support at Daegyeong Parking Lot and Paldo Paid Parking Lot, and high chairs are available too.

Samsam Milmyeon does not have its own dedicated lot; you use a nearby parking lot and receive parking support. We drove there too, and parking is always the biggest concern when eating around Samsan, right? The one-hour support definitely made things easier.

A spacious, tidy dining room

When we stepped inside, the restaurant was more spacious than I expected.

There were quite a few tables, so it looked suitable for anything from dining alone to a family meal. High chairs were also set up near the entrance.

Once seated, we checked the menu right away.

Mul milmyeon, bibim milmyeon, and dumplings

I liked that the menu was not complicated. Mul milmyeon (cold wheat noodles in broth) and bibim milmyeon (spicy mixed wheat noodles) are the mains, with dumplings, extra noodles, and extra-large portions available too.

We ordered three things: extra-large mul milmyeon, extra-large bibim milmyeon, and dumplings!

Honestly, when we ordered, we thought, “One bowl of milmyeon each plus dumplings will be perfect~” But... we had no idea two extra-large portions would be this much, haha.

Rich warm broth before the milmyeon

While we waited after ordering, warm broth came out first.

I usually only have a sip or two of this kind of pre-meal broth and do not drink much more, but this one was richer and tastier than expected. It was warm and savory, so I kept spooning it up until the milmyeon arrived, haha.

Saying, “The broth here is good?” I had another cup, then another... I drank quite a lot of warm broth that day 🤣

At last, the mul milmyeon arrived 🍜

With little slushy ice crystals floating on top, it looked perfect for a hot day. I first tasted the broth as it was, then added a little vinegar and mustard. As usual, I preferred it with just a touch of vinegar and mustard!

Then, as I ate the noodles, I felt the sheer force of an extra-large portion all over again... hahaha. It is quite a lot. This was when I started to slightly regret ordering extra-large from the start. Still, it was tasty, so I kept eating.

Extra-large cucumber bibim milmyeon

If you have mul milmyeon, you have to try bibim milmyeon too, right?

The bibim milmyeon came with a generous amount of cucumber. As a cucumber lover, I was completely satisfied! You can choose whether to include cucumber when ordering, and of course I asked them to add it, haha.

It arrived already well mixed with the sauce, so there was no need to spend time mixing it yourself before digging in. Eating it with the cucumber and pickled radish added a nice crunch. It tasted distinctly different from the mul milmyeon, so alternating between the two kept me from getting tired of either one. Of course... my stomach was getting closer and closer to its limit, haha.

And finally, the dumplings!

Honestly, I was already pretty full by this point, but once the dumplings arrived, I ate them anyway. The wrappers were pleasantly chewy, and they were generously filled with meat. They were tasty dipped in soy sauce and paired well with the milmyeon too. One bite of dumpling, some milmyeon, then another dumpling... I just kept eating, haha.

To be completely honest, I thought I was going to burst. One extra-large mul milmyeon, one extra-large bibim milmyeon, and dumplings... We ordered this much because we worried the portions might be small, but there was more food than expected, and the end was quite a struggle 🤣

But it was delicious, so... we finished everything, hahahaha. Part of it was because it seemed too good to leave behind, but if it had not tasted good, there was no way we could have finished that much. (I ended up unable to eat dinner that day...) Next time, I think I would order regular sizes, or make only one of the two bowls extra-large. If you have a big appetite, though, I recommend the extra-large portion!

For lunch near Ulsan Terminal

Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch is fairly close to the Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal, making it a good spot if you are visiting the Samsan area as part of an Ulsan trip or looking for a good lunch near the terminal. It is also easy to plan a café or shopping stop nearby after your milmyeon. Above all, the one-hour parking support at Daegyeong Parking Lot and Paldo Paid Parking Lot was convenient when driving.

After trying it

This time, we got greedy and ordered two extra-large bowls plus dumplings, and although I nearly burst, we still finished it all, haha. I liked the mul milmyeon, but the bibim milmyeon loaded with cucumber was delicious too, and the warm broth was unexpectedly memorable. The parking support also made it easy to visit by car.

If you are craving milmyeon in Ulsan or looking for a good restaurant in Dal-dong or near Ulsan Terminal, Samsam Milmyeon Main Branch could be worth a visit. But unlike us, do think once before ordering two extra-large bowls because you assume the portions will be small, haha. There is more than you might expect 🤣🍜
