Anyang gopchang restaurant with egg fried rice to finish: Ilmigop
In short
Ilmigop is a gopchang (grilled beef intestine) and makchang restaurant in Bisan-dong, Anyang, directly across from E-Mart. Instead of the assorted platter, this visit was one serving of gopchang and one of makchang ordered à la carte, served with seasoned chives, two dipping sauces and a sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) that comes with every order. The best part of Ilmigop was the egg fried rice at the end, worth ordering even when you are already full.

On a day when I got off work craving gopchang out of nowhere, I searched around for gopchang restaurants in Anyang and ended up at Ilmigop.

Ilmigop was absolutely packed — a true Anyang gopchang restaurant. Just reading the signage boosted my trust, haha. It's a gopchang place that only uses natural ingredients to tenderize the meat.

Parking and how long the wait was at Ilmigop
Ilmigop runs on a same-day-sourced, same-day-prepped principle, and it's located right across from E-Mart. Parking was easy since it's available inside the building, and the wait was long enough to confirm just how popular this place is.
The line moved faster than expected though, so I didn't have to wait too long.
I like gopchang in general, so I tend to inspect the taste and condition pretty carefully. Here's an honest rundown of the menu and the flavors, from actually eating it myself. If you're looking for a gopchang restaurant in Anyang, hope this helps :)

À la carte instead of the platter: one gopchang, one makchang
Ilmigop's menu lets you order either the well-priced assorted set or individual à la carte items. After thinking it over, I decided to skip the assorted set this time and order à la carte — one serving each of makchang (beef bung) and gopchang.

The side dish alone was seriously good! While waiting for the gopchang, the salad came out first, perfect for a palate cleanser. I was so hungry it tasted amazing — I ended up asking for a refill, haha.

The sundubu jjigae that comes with every order
And the best part — sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) comes free with the order. I feel like you'd normally pay around ₩5,000 for this, but at Ilmigop it's included. A lot of people were eating gopchang with soju, and having the soup show up without ordering it separately made this feel like an even better-value gopchang restaurant.

The tofu came in whole blocks, and the stew was spicy and delicious. It wasn't just a throwaway complimentary stew — it made me think about ordering rice to eat alongside it.

* What I ordered at Ilmigop * - Gopchang, 1 serving - Makchang, 1 serving

Looking at the photos again makes my mouth water. Ugh, I know gopchang isn't exactly good for you, but it feels so good I keep eating it anyway, haha. I really need to lose weight though~
The chives and mushrooms were piled on generously too — no need to order extra vegetables, it was plenty. And the two accompanying sauces were genuinely excellent, which made even the vegetables really tasty to eat.

Frosty beer at Ilmigop
The frosty, half-frozen beer at the next table looked incredible, so I ordered one right away. My husband drove us there, so I made him drive us home too, haha. There was no way I could pass up that frosty beer >< He was so envious watching me drink it.

Beef heart to gopchang: the grilling order and how each tasted
First up was the beef heart — you eat it once the blood color fades. Leave it too long and it gets tough, so timing is key; eaten right away it was incredibly chewy, clean-tasting, and melted in my mouth.

Paired with chives, it got even better — savory, chewy, with that extra herby fragrance layered on top. The chives also cut through any richness and left my mouth feeling clean.

Personally, it tasted way better with chives than eaten plain :) They cut the richness completely, so I could keep eating without getting sick of it. A truly legit Anyang gopchang restaurant.

The gopchang was golden and crisp-chewy on the outside — such a savory flavor — and chewy but not tough on the inside.

The more I chewed, the more that subtle savory gop (intestine fat) flavor came through, letting me really enjoy that distinctive gopchang taste. There was just the right amount of fat, so it wasn't too greasy — more like clean and light. Eating it with the chives, sauce, or mushrooms changed the flavor each time, so I enjoyed it all the way through :)

Chive refills tossed fresh at the table
You absolutely need a chive refill — when I asked for more, they mixed it fresh right there on the spot. They don't pre-marinate a batch of chives ahead of time, which honestly impressed me.
Why the egg fried rice is worth it even when you are full
I got full just eating the gopchang without rice. But still — gotta power through. Because the fried rice looked absolutely insane.
And there it was — whoa. This place isn't just about the gopchang; the fried rice was the real deal. I'd never had fried rice this properly made at a place like this before...! It looked like something a bar would charge ₩15,000 for.

Pickled radish for the fried rice came out too. It goes perfectly with egg fried rice >-<// They also scooped the leftover gopchang into a bowl for me, which made it easier to eat.
Once the egg mixture cooks through, it's ready to eat, so I wasn't drooling over it for too long. The fried rice was so savory and delicious — I kept saying over and over how much I would've missed out if I hadn't ordered it.

No matter how full you are, please — please!! — order the fried rice. That's the whole point of this glowing review of Ilmigop, a real gopchang restaurant in Anyang.
