When you're shopping at Lotte Department Store, sometimes you just crave Korean food — that day I wanted something hearty, with hot soup and bossam (boiled pork wraps) too.

So while looking for a good restaurant near Beomgye Station, we naturally ended up at Hantiok. It's in the basement 1 food hall of Lotte Department Store Pyeongchon, so it's easy to eat right there while you're inside the mall.

The interior was clean and the tables weren't cramped, which made for a comfortable weekend lunch with my husband.

We ordered the set menu — I chose Andong guksi (Andong-style noodles) and my husband chose Andong gukbap (Andong-style rice soup).

Once it was all laid out like in the photo, it was way more filling than I expected.

With bossam, stir-fried pork, dumplings, and side dishes all added in, the two of us had fun picking a bit of everything.

We started with the bossam, and I liked that the meat slices were thick yet tender.

Topping it with the spicy radish salad that came alongside worked really well with the mild, clean-tasting meat.

With the stir-fried pork on top of everything else, I felt like I'd made the right call wanting a big spread of Korean food near Beomgye Station that day.

What does Hantiok's Andong gukbap taste like?

My husband picked the Andong gukbap, and the hot broth had a decent amount of meat in it too, so it felt really filling.

Mixing rice into the broth and taking a spoonful — you really feel like this is the kind of soup Koreans crave.

As the weather starts cooling down a bit, I think more people will be looking for a good gukbap place around Beomgye,

and being able to have a clean, proper bowl of gukbap right inside the department store was a nice plus.

And for me, Andong guksi! Honestly, I never used to be a big fan of Andong-style noodles.

The noodles felt too soft — I used to prefer a chewier texture.

But I guess I'm getting older haha.

These days I don't know why, but this kind of soft, easy-to-swallow noodle just feels so comforting and delicious.

Hantiok's Andong guksi wasn't strongly seasoned or punchy — it was more about comfortably enjoying soft noodles in warm broth.

Eating the bits of meat mixed in among the noodles made it more filling than I expected, and I thought it would also be a good Korean food choice near Beomgye Station to share with parents.

Andong guksi or Andong gukbap: which set should you order?

I also tried a bite of my husband's gukbap, and with rice mixed into the broth, it was definitely more filling.

If you love noodles like me, go with Andong guksi; if you want a heartier rice-based meal, go with Andong gukbap. So next time we're looking for a gukbap place near Beomgye, I think my husband will go for the gukbap again, while I'm now leaning toward the guksi haha.

The great thing about the set menu is that you're not stuck eating just one dish. With guksi or gukbap plus bossam, stir-fried pork, and dumplings covering the table, our weekend lunch turned out pretty generous.
