Sejong City Hall café with Geumgang River views: Apere, 4th floor

I heard there was a hot new café near city hall, so I got curious and went to check it out. It's called Apere.

At first I just thought of it as another new Sejong café, but the moment the elevator doors opened, my mind completely changed. The view is insane. Especially the seats where you can see the whole Geumgang River at a glance — perfect for zoning out with a coffee. A place I'd want to come back to with my family.

Parking and directions to Apere near Sejong City Hall

For Apere parking, park on B2 of the Riverpicnic underground lot and take the elevator up to the 4th floor. The route from parking up to the café was easy and convenient.

But what really surprised me came after the elevator doors opened.

A café on a whole floor: how far apart are the tables?

Apere's space is wide and open. It doesn't feel like a café tucked into one corner — it feels like the entire floor is the café, so the scale felt substantial the moment I walked in.

The table spacing, though. As befits a new café, everything is clean and the interior is sleek without any clutter. But what I liked most was the table spacing!

The gaps between tables were so wide that I could sit comfortably without worrying about the next table. These days a lot of pretty cafés cram tables together, but here the space itself is so large that it feels comfortable to sit for a long time.

Does Apere serve more than coffee?

Looking at Apere's menu, it's not just a coffee shop. There's also brunch, and it looks like bingsu (shaved ice dessert) is available too.

So rather than just coming for coffee, it seemed like a good spot to grab dessert after lunch near Sejong City Hall, or to come with family on the weekend for a leisurely brunch.

And above all, the Geumgang River view! The moment I turned toward the window, the view was so good I just kept staring. If I had to pick Apere's biggest strength, it would definitely be the Geumgang River view.

The wide-open Geumgang River outside the window looked like it would be gorgeous on a nice day. Even sitting toward the inside of the café, the view wasn't blocked at all — the layout lets the scenery in from all over, which I loved. Every seat has a good view, so much so that it was hard to decide where to sit, haha.

Is Apere good for meetings and group gatherings?

Because Apere's space is so large, it's great for catching up with friends, but it also seemed like a good spot for a simple meeting.

There's also a quiet, separated group seating area, so groups can sit comfortably too.

So I thought this is a Sejong café that works well for all sorts of uses.

How the Americano, Apere latte and opera cake tasted

Now that we're at the café, we've got to try the coffee. We ordered an Americano, an Apere latte, and opera cake.

I ordered the latte, and my sister, who actually knows her coffee, had the Americano — she took one sip and was amazed, saying they must be using expensive beans. According to my coffee-savvy sister, they seem to use pretty high-quality beans. I drank the latte so I just enjoyed it as a nice drink, but tasting the Americano really showed the coffee's flavor was quite good. If you're a coffee lover, it might be worth trying the Americano to taste the beans directly.

And the opera cake we ordered together. Just coffee alone felt a bit lacking, so we got a cake to go with it.

The cake was sweet and soft, good to eat with coffee. Especially the latte-and-cake combo — need I say more, haha. Sweet cake and coffee while looking at the Geumgang River, just sitting there felt healing.

After resting a good while at the café, I made sure to properly register my parking before leaving. Parking is convenient, the café space is large, and the view is great, so I felt like there was no need to look elsewhere — you could just spend your time here comfortably.

Apere in Sejong: the verdict

I initially visited because I heard about a new café near Sejong City Hall, but the space turned out to be much bigger than expected, and above all, I really loved Apere's Geumgang River view.

• Varied menu including brunch and bingsu
• Satisfying coffee too
• Good group seating and meeting space
• Convenient parking

Especially since every seat has a great view, it seems like a good place to chat with friends for a long time, or to have a relaxed coffee with family.

Next time I plan to come back with my family and try the brunch or bingsu too. If you're looking for a café near Sejong City Hall or a Sejong café with a great view, I'd recommend giving Apere a try.
