Late-night bossam after overtime near Mangwon Station: Pyeongidambaek
In short
Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is a Korean restaurant on Yanghwa-ro 7-gil between Mangwon Station and Hapjeong in Mapo, Seoul, serving bossam (boiled pork wraps) and ppyeo kalguksu (pork bone noodle soup). Arriving late in the evening after overtime, the writer ordered the medium bossam, which came out freshly sliced and warm with dried radish, cabbage kimchi and diced radish kimchi, making one bowl of rice feel too small. Soft, clean-tasting pork with well-seasoned kimchi makes Pyeongidambaek a Mangwon bossam spot worth saving.

Pyeongidambaek: a bossam restaurant between Mangwon Station and Hapjeong
Today I headed out to explore around Mangwon Station. Somewhere between Mangwon and Hapjeong sits "Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch," famous as a Hapjeong bossam spot. I found it while searching for restaurants in the Mangridan-gil area — it's not right by Mangwon Market, but it's in an area near Mangwon Station packed with good restaurants.

Opening hours and break time at Pyeongidambaek
Open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. There's a break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the middle, with last orders at 2:30 PM and 9:30 PM respectively, so keep that in mind!

Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch, famous as a Hapjeong bossam spot, had quite a few tables filled even at this late hour — a well-known place in Mangridan-gil. The bossam is delicious, but the bone kalguksu is famous too, and I heard several tables ordering it, so I'll try that next time.

This Mangwon restaurant uses aged noodles for extra chewiness, and the owner was really friendly, which made the place feel welcoming from the moment I walked in. Now let's take a look at the menu.

What's on the menu at Pyeongidambaek
Bossam is the star, with bone kalguksu and bone soup rice as meal options. They also sell drinking snacks like perilla oil grilled tofu and squid chive pancake, which pair well with a drink. Today I ordered the bossam medium to feel the might of this Hapjeong bossam favorite.

It looks like clam kalguksu is a new menu item too, with a discount event running, so if you like kalguksu, stop by and try this Mangwon restaurant's noodle soup!!

Medium bossam and the side dishes it comes with
Today's main dish arrives — bossam. The ratio of lean meat to fat, just how I like it, looks so soft even at a glance. It's clear why this place keeps coming up as a Hapjeong bossam keyword search. And as you'll see below, plenty of side dishes come along, all built around eating with bossam.

Dried radish, cabbage kimchi, and diced radish kimchi (kkakdugi) too. Side dishes that taste amazing with bossam, all seasoned just right. This Hapjeong bossam favorite, Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch, makes you think even just cabbage kimchi or dried radish with bossam alone would be delicious.

Looking closer at the bossam, the portion is generous and the shine on it is no joke. Warm as if freshly sliced, glistening, with just the right amount of lean meat and fat. No wonder it's a favorite in Mangridan-gil. Officially saved as my go-to Mangwon bossam spot.

The bite that revives you after a late shift
I load up my chopsticks with bossam and pop it in my mouth. Soft enough to melt away, with a clean, mild flavor that's just outstanding — this Mangwon favorite Pyeongidambaek's bossam. Delicious enough on its own, but let's try it with rice and side dishes too!!!

First, two pieces in for another bite of bossam. That feeling of a body worn out from overtime being healed and restored. I already really like bossam, but this one's especially good, which makes it even better. A few memorable Seoul bossam spots come to mind, and this one's joining the list. I'll do a Seoul bossam special roundup sometime.

And bossam like this is a real rice thief. The kind of magical taste that makes you wolf it down so fast a bowl of rice feels too small.

Bossam with kimchi and cabbage wraps
On top of that, the well-seasoned kimchi. There's even a hint of oyster kimchi flavor, and it's a perfect match with the bossam. The kimchi tastes so good I want to wrap some up to take home — a great combo with the soft bossam.

It would be a shame not to eat it as a wrap, right? I put kimchi and bossam on a cabbage leaf and eat it in one bite. Exploring Mangridan-gil like this washes all the tiredness away — this Mangwon restaurant is great. Somewhere between Hapjeong and Mangwon Station, Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch, this Hapjeong bossam favorite, really lives up to the title of 'main branch.' A dinner that gives you strength on a hungry day. After eating, there are cool cafés and gachapon shops nearby too — a full date course in Mangridan-gil.

The bossam kimchi pairs so well with rice too, making for a very happy day. With Chuseok holiday just starting, I hope you spend it with good food too. That wraps up today's Mangwon restaurant review of Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch. Whether you search Mangwon bossam favorite, Hapjeong bossam favorite, restaurants near Mangridan-gil, or restaurants near Mangwon Station, this was tonight's dinner spot worth finding under any of those keywords.
