It was a day when strong winds were blowing across Jeju.. 🌪️ At least it wasn't raining, but suddenly the wind picked up so much that after I parked out front, just sitting still I could feel the car shaking lol. Spectacular start to the trip.

Turns out I'd been here years ago, on my own dime

As I was about to park out front — wait?! I've been here before! lol I was looking for a famous braised cutlassfish spot around Seongsan, saw it had tons of reviews, and it turned out to be the place I'd visited on my own money years ago when I came to Jeju.. gave me chills. From back then until now, Seongsan Bada Punggyeong has held its spot as a top braised cutlassfish restaurant in Seongsan! Real must-visit spots really are different 👍 You can park right in front, so it's super convenient for rental cars 🚗 No stress driving there and great accessibility — perfect for travelers!

Spacious, comfortable inside — and a note on the restrooms

Walking in, the interior is genuinely spacious and comfortable! 🤩 Great location and such a famous spot that foreign tourists come here too.

Oh, one note on restrooms — the men's room is upstairs, women's is downstairs, so keep that in mind! 🚻

Order the ocean-view braised cutlassfish, get a whole grilled one free

The menu has hearty stew-style dishes served in earthenware pots, plus various braised cutlassfish sets. But here's the amazing part — order the bada pungyeong jorim and they give you a whole grilled cutlassfish for free.. Boss, are you sure you're making money on this? 😭 Amazing, seriously. Every time I have to choose between braised cutlassfish or grilled cutlassfish, it's such a struggle, but here you don't have to choose! You get both, which makes me so happy 🥰

We ordered bada pungyeong jorim (₩19,500) × 2 servings-! I'm always stuck in a happy dilemma over what to eat, but being able to enjoy two main dishes at once made both the value and the spread totally satisfying ✨

Staff debone the whole grilled cutlassfish for you

Even though the whole grilled cutlassfish was free, its look was straight-up insane 🔥 A staff member came over personally and cleaned out the big bones for us, so all we had to do was eat comfortably.

So sweet..🥹 Even while busy, they kindly deboned everything so we could just focus on eating comfortably — really nice.

One bowl of rice, gone, mixed into the braised cutlassfish sauce

The braised cutlassfish came out and I let out a genuine wow 🤤 Eating it with the wide open sea in the background outside doubled the flavor haha. The sauce on the braised cutlassfish is truly a scam it's so good. Mix it into the rice and a whole bowl disappears in no time 🍚 A special sauce that's spicy-sweet with deep umami!! I kept spooning it over the fish and rice again and again haha.

Seaweed soup, self-serve

Oh, and the seaweed soup you just help yourself to. I'm normally a seaweed soup lover, so I absolutely love a self-serve bar like this.. had two bowls haha.
