Black pork platter at sunset in Seogwipo, Jeju: Jeju Healing Dwaeji

In short

Jeju Healing Dwaeji is a black pork BBQ restaurant on Maljil-ro in Seogwipo, Jeju. Visited at sunset, the writer ordered the black pork assorted set (neck, belly, skirt meat) plus a blue crab doenjang stew, and found the aged meat juicy with no gamey smell. With ocean-view seats and a large parking lot, it's especially good for family trips with kids.

Today I've got a review of a black pork restaurant I visited on my Jeju trip. Haha, I genuinely promise this is a must-visit if you're in Jeju! With a holiday coming up soon, I know a lot of people will be planning trips and looking for a good black pork restaurant in Jeju, so I'm writing this one honestly.

To cut to the conclusion first — the meat quality was great and it had an ocean view too, so I'd definitely go back haha. Honestly, this is a Jeju restaurant I'd recommend to anyone who says they're heading to Jeju!

How I found it, and the sunset atmosphere

I was looking for a black pork restaurant near where I was staying when I found this place, and there was a big grassy yard with outdoor tables out front. I arrived right around sunset and the sky turned so pretty that I started taking photos before I even sat down haha.

Actually, this place was recommended by someone who lives in Jeju... and sure enough, it felt like a real local favorite haha. There were even office groups here for company dinners! I felt like I'd picked well.

The interior has a black-toned design with floor-to-ceiling windows, and some seats look out over the sea — if you're lucky with seating, you get to eat with an ocean view.

It was pretty busy for a dinner-time slot haha. I really got there just before a wait started — apparently it's normally super popular, and yep, turns out it lived up to it. Honestly the best place I ate at during my whole 2-night-3-day trip.

The black pork assorted set

I ordered the black pork assorted set. It comes with about three cuts — neck, belly, and skirt meat — plated with shiitake mushrooms and rosemary, so it looked gorgeous even before we started grilling haha.

I asked the owner for a recommendation and they were incredibly kind about it — and yep, lived up to expectations. Jeju Healing Dwaeji really delivers. The owner was just so, so kind. Loved it.

Half a tangerine served alongside the meat

They also set the table with half a tangerine, which was a surprisingly nice touch haha — cute enough that you just have to take a photo of it.

How each cut tasted

The meat is aged before it's served, so there was no gamey smell and it was packed with juice! Hahahahaha.

Aged black pork cooking on the grill

Honestly I'm more of a seafood person, and I only ordered meat because, well, you have to eat pork in Jeju right? But it was so good haha. Beat braised hairtail and hoe (raw fish) both, easily.

The portions were so generous haha, I got so full I had to walk along the coastal road afterward just to digest. No gamey smell at all was really the killing point, and all the side dishes were so good too, ugh.

Side dishes served with the black pork

The neck cut in particular was tender enough that even my kid ate it well, and the pork belly kept a nice chewiness on the skin side, which made for great texture.

Isn't it only good if it's crispy? Well, this wasn't crispy but it was so well aged that it was still delicious haha. The side dish spread was solid too — scallion salad, pickled radish, bean sprouts, pickled mountain garlic leaves,

plus garlic, black olives, and jalapeños, all served separately so it was fun mixing and matching. And the wraps were so good too, right?? I just kept eating.

Honestly, meat that's good = meat that's good even with just salt, and this meat was delicious dipped in salt. That's exactly what Jeju Healing Dwaeji is.

Finishing off with blue crab doenjang stew

Since the side dishes are refillable, you can eat as much as you want haha. And of course, no meal like this is complete without Hallasan soju — you can't have pork belly without Hallasan haha.

At the end we ordered the doenjang stew, and the blue crab doenjang stew was so good haha. It had that full homemade taste, so it's a dish I'd really recommend.

Since it's such a popular spot, dinner time gets a bit crowded. But parking is plentiful haha, so don't worry and just go.

Who would I recommend this to

I'd especially recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy black pork leisurely with an ocean view, and to family travelers with kids.

If you time your visit for sunset, it's a great spot for photos too. If you're looking for a black pork restaurant in Jeju, give this place a try. I'd definitely go back haha.
