Just snapped a photo of the Mondrian Hotel's floor guide.
Korean fine dining inside the Mondrian Seoul Itaewon hotel

I heard there was a luxury Korean dining restaurant inside the Mondrian Hotel in Itaewon that reinterprets signature jang (fermented sauces) and seasonal specialties in a modern way, so I went to check it out.

You walk in through a huge door made of sleek metal, embossed with traditional Korean floral patterns.

The lobby you meet right as you step in. A modern interior in artistic harmony with traditional beauty. Even a quick snapshot comes out looking like a studio photoshoot.
A spacious, relaxed main dining hall
We had our weekday lunch in Modam Itaewon's sleek yet tidy-moodhall. (It was near the end of the lunch hour, so it was great for taking photos.) The whole space was wrapped in bright, cheerful natural light, making it super comfortable!
But the best part was how far apart the tables were spaced, so you could fully focus on conversation without worrying about the next table. It was pure calm, luxurious healing.
Private rooms: the 28-seat large room and the business hidden room
The large room seats up to a whopping 28 people. Perfect for big family events or a formal meeting with your future in-laws. It even has its own closet, which makes storing outerwear super convenient.
The business hidden room is a slightly smaller, cozier space with a darker tone, run as both a business room and a hidden room. It's so thoroughly soundproofed that not a single bit of outside noise gets through, and it also has a closet — perfect for weekday corporate business meetings. Honestly, I want to become a successful career woman just so I can have meetings in a place like this.
There were plenty of other room types too. Each one had a completely different design.
Modam Itaewon weekday lunch menu and prices

The menu. Weekday lunch ranges widely from ₩27,000 to ₩45,000. There's also alcohol on the menu.
You order via tablet like this! We ordered the Beopseongpo dried corvina set for ₩45,000 and the mixed seafood jang set for ₩45,000 >.< I was torn between that and the tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), but went with the seafood jang!
The appetizers served before the meal

The full spread shot.
A luxurious fresh fish carpaccio. Fresh sashimi-grade fish paired with a tangy-sweet sauce and finely chopped vegetables. It gave the palate a refreshing reset.

A salad you can't skip if you're watching your blood sugar. Fresh green vegetables and reddish purple cabbage mixed with a tangy dressing — great for whetting the appetite before the meal 👍
Insanely good mushroom fritters. These were genuinely delicious. The sauce was amazing and the fritters were crispy outside, tender inside — yep, this is what a hotel restaurant tastes like.

I really love gimbugak (crispy fried dried laver), and this one was a unique dish topped with crisp traditional bugak, fresh green grapes, and a nutty, smooth perilla sauce. The 'radish' I bit into turned out to be Korean melon, and that was the real kicker haha. So good.

A perilla oil buckwheat noodle dish. Buckwheat noodles topped generously with a nutty perilla oil sauce, laver flakes, and finely chopped green onion. Mix it all up and take a bite — a subtle savory richness and nuttiness wraps around your mouth. Genuinely delicious, I swear.

My friend and I kept gasping over how good the appetizers alone were haha. The photos came out great, so we took about a million selfies.
Two sets compared: dried corvina vs mixed marinated seafood

They cleared the table neatly, and then the main dishes arrived!
Beopseongpo bori gulbi (dried corvina) set, ₩45,000
The main meal, beautifully arranged on a tidy wooden tray.
- Fluffy, well-cooked rice
- Warm soup with a deep, rich broth
- Crisp mul-kimchi (water kimchi) with radish and cabbage
- Chewy gungchae (aster) namul (seasoned vegetable)
- Assorted namul and delicious kimchi

The corvina's distinctive fishy edge was cleanly tamed, and the seasoning wasn't too strong or overpowering — I tore off a piece of this savory yet clean, nutty corvina.

Pouring cool brewed green tea over rice and topping it with the corvina — this is straight-up 'rice thief' territory. That red sauce is a total game-changer.
Modeum haemul-jang (mixed marinated seafood) set, ₩45,000
It comes generously loaded with fresh seasonal seafood — black tiger shrimp, shrimp, abalone, octopus, egg, and seaweed. They give you tongs and scissors so you can cut it up.

Order the seafood jang set and you get this gamtae (sea lettuce) butter rice on the side — mix it up and top it with the seafood jang, and the savory flavor explodes.
The oceanic flavor of the gamtae and the nuttiness of the butter tame even the seafood jang's faint fishiness, leaving a super clean aftertaste. I normally don't like buttery rice and told my friend to eat it alone, but I tried a bite anyway — and wow, so good? Food from a good place really is on another level.

The older I get, the more I love this kind of neat, tidy Korean food. Especially when it's at a luxurious Korean dining spot haha.
The finale: lime and perilla leaf sorbet. The moment you take a bite, a tangy aroma bursts out and gives your mouth a totally refreshing rinse. Perilla leaf, who knew you could be this refreshing and amazing?
Naver review event: 3 handmade financiers

Whoa, if you write a Naver review, they give you a whopping 3 handmade financiers. We ate incredibly well, asked them to validate our parking, and left happy!
