🍑 Hi, I'm Apricot. I went to Okdengjang, a Yadang go-to spot for get-togethers. It's a Korean restaurant I love, and I went for lunch to try the two-person feast set menu. It comes with three dishes — a small assorted boiled pork hot pot, squid and minari (water parsley) pancake, and seasoned beef tendon salad — all on one set, with a good discount too, so it was great value! 💕

Okdengjang Paju Yadang Branch is on the first floor of the Nonghyup building at Hosu Plaza, 1070 Gyeongui-ro, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Parking at Hosu Plaza is free for two hours, so driving is easy, and it's only 156m from Exit 2 of Yadang Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, so walking works too.

How to walk to Okdengjang from Yadang Station Exit 2

Okdengjang Paju Yadang Branch, the go-to spot for a Yadang get-together, is on the first floor of the Nonghyup Bank building by Yadang Station, right in front of a bus stop on the main road.

At lunch they also serve freshly roasted gim (seaweed) on the house. There's a wide range of homestyle doenjang hot pots, and lately the new sundubu (soft tofu) hot pot has joined the lineup. They display these tasty options right at the entrance, so you know what's coming before you even walk in.

Inside Okdengjang: seating, reservations and lunchtime waits

屋 Okdengjang — using the character for 'house' — kept its doors wide open. With the folding doors fully open, the cool autumn breeze drifted in, making for a really pleasant space.

There's no break time, so you can go anytime, but lunch gets busy, so it's worth booking ahead. Reservations are available through Naver.

We got there just before noon and it was empty, but right after 12, people came pouring in — it filled up fast with customers.

The basic side dishes were neat and simple. Tofu kimchi, braised quail eggs, and roasted gim (seaweed) — the gim is only served at lunch.

Assorted boiled pork hot pot (small) — beef tendon included

The small assorted boiled pork hot pot includes beef tendon, so we got to enjoy chewy tendon alongside everything else. The broth is great, of course, and the boiled pork is so tender and delicious!

It bubbled away and we shared it happily. The white pieces are the tendon, and it's so chewy that just thinking about it makes me want more!

Squid and minari pancake and seasoned beef tendon salad

The squid and minari (water parsley) pancake is packed with squid and nicely crispy — I really liked it. Just the hot pot and this pancake alone would fill you up, but the set menu gives a ₩10,000 discount and throws in one more dish.

That's the beef tendon salad — a cold dish seasoned tangy and spicy, the kind of thing that just makes you want rice. So we ordered bowls of rice and had a really satisfying lunch.
