You know those places you go back to if the first visit was delicious? Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch (국민낙곱새 강서점) is exactly that kind of place, haha. I remembered enjoying it so much last time that I went again.

This time there were four of us, and since it was a group dinner, we ordered generously. Having spicy nakgopsae with rice again made me think, yes, I was right to come back. In particular, if you are looking for a dinner or work gathering spot near Balsan Station for a group, the menu is great for sharing.

Easy access from Balsan Station and parking
Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch is on the first floor of Dong-A Building at 330 Gangseo-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It is within walking distance of Exit 6 of Balsan Station, so it is convenient even without a car.

On this return visit, I also felt that it is a good place to drive to with a group! The parking area was more spacious than I expected, so it seemed convenient for a dinner appointment, family meal, or work gathering.

Around Balsan and Magok, choosing a restaurant can be tricky when you are driving because of parking, so I personally liked that there was plenty of parking space.

And one thing I quietly pay attention to when eating out is the restroom. Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch keeps its restroom clean too, which I liked.

Even if the food is delicious, the overall impression can dip a little when the restroom or restaurant upkeep is disappointing, you know.

Here, even the restroom was clean, so it felt more comfortable for a group work dinner or family meal. With relatively ample parking, a clean restroom, and proximity to Balsan Station, both access and convenience were good.
The menu and our order for four

There were four of us that day, so we ordered the large Korean beef daechang nakgopsae, extra udon noodles, and four bowls of rice. We had enjoyed it last time too, so we chose the signature Korean beef daechang nakgopsae without hesitation! Nakgopsae is nice because you can enjoy several ingredients at once, from octopus and daechang (beef large intestine) to shrimp. It arrived packed with ingredients, so I wanted to dig in even before it began to boil, haha. Once it starts bubbling away, the sauce seeps into every ingredient and it becomes properly appetizing just to look at.

Spicy nakgopsae with the side dishes
Since nakgopsae is on the spicy side, the accompanying side dishes are quietly important, right? Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch serves miyeokguk (seaweed soup) as a basic side, which was great for soothing the heat between bites. A bite of nakgopsae followed by a spoonful of warm seaweed soup felt like a reset for the mouth, and the combination was better than expected. I think the soup would be especially welcome for anyone who cannot handle much spice.

Eating it in perilla-leaf wraps
The included side dishes also go well with the nakgopsae. Since it is spicy, those sides matter more than you might think. They serve seaweed soup, dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth, pickled radish wrap slices, and mayonnaise to temper the spice now and then. It is especially delicious to put pickled radish and nakgopsae ingredients on a perilla leaf and wrap it up. After mixing it with rice, having a wrap like this once in a while changes the flavor, so I did not get tired of it until the end. That may be why it is good as a meal, but also a menu that goes wonderfully with a glass of soju. It would be a good choice for anyone looking for dinner near Balsan Station.

What I especially like in nakgopsae is daechang. The spicy sauce and rich Korean beef daechang go really well together. Daechang on its own could become a little rich, but the spicy nakgopsae sauce cuts through that richness, so I kept eating it.
There was also the fun of picking out springy shrimp and chewy octopus in turn. This sauce is exactly why we ordered four bowls of rice, haha. It is delicious with just the ingredients, but personally, I think nakgopsae is best with plain white rice. Put one piece each of octopus, daechang, and shrimp over rice, then mix in a little sauce—it is seriously delicious. The four of us each ordered a bowl of rice and properly had a full meal, haha.
A satisfying meal even on a return visit
This time, four of us thoroughly enjoyed a large Korean beef daechang nakgopsae with udon noodles and four bowls of rice. The rich flavor of the Korean beef daechang came with plenty of octopus and shrimp, and the spicy sauce went so well with rice. Adding the udon let it soak up the sauce properly, so it stayed delicious to the end, haha.
More than anything, I personally want to recommend this place because I came back after enjoying it on my previous visit. It was not a one-and-done meal—I thought of it and returned, and it was still delicious, so I think I will visit again whenever I crave nakgopsae. If you are looking near Balsan Station for a warming spicy dinner, a group work-dinner spot, an after-work dinner with drinks, or a convenient Magok-area gathering place with parking, I recommend Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch ♥
