Gangnam Japanese restaurant date night eel set meal: Manmok

Let me introduce Manmok, a great restaurant near Seolleung Station for team dinners. These days, lots of office workers around Seolleung Station have lunch team dinners, right?

When that happens, you want something easy to eat but still a little upscale—and at Manmok, you can have an eel rice bowl as a full set meal.

There are window bar seats that are great for solo dining, loooong tables, and separated tables for groups of two to four. So it is good for a solo lunch near Seolleung Station and for a team dinner, too. I went for a date!

A whole eel rice bowl that was plenty filling despite the wide box

I ordered the whole eel rice bowl. It comes in a bento-style box, just like when I ate it in Japan. I thought it looked so shallow that it might not fill me up?

But there was plenty—my boyfriend and I could not even finish the very last spoonful. It is low but wide, haha.

It comes with salad, steamed egg, and clear soup, so you get a neat individual set meal. If you are craving a tidy, nourishing meal that is good for you, come to Manmok for an eel rice bowl!

I actually had a cold and felt so run-down, but I still had a date planned, so I wanted something warm and good for my body. After eating at Manmok, I woke up this morning and my cold was completely gone!

It has long tables, solo tables, and date tables—all of it. Above all, the atmosphere is so refined and lovely. Take anyone here and you will not get any complaints!

Manmok eel rice bowl menu and prices

Manmok specializes in eel rice bowls. A half eel bowl is ₩26,000, a whole eel bowl is ₩39,000, and a one-and-a-half eel bowl is ₩50,000. We each had a whole eel bowl. Things like this taste even better when you are having a Seolleung Station team dinner on the company card, haha.

The black table is so pretty, right? Everything came neatly portioned for one on a wooden tray, and it felt so tidy and upscale! I absolutely loved it, haha.

I liked that the salad and side dishes were served separately like this. Those little round grains are a spice, and the aroma was really distinctive.

My boyfriend does not like sashimi, but he really loves eel rice bowls, haha. So interesting, right? I was so excited that I put the lid into the soup while trying to open it... Got it on the second try, hahaha.

Japanese-style steamed egg is just so soft. We opened up our appetites with salad and steamed egg, then tucked into the eel rice bowl.

It would be so nice if we had a team dinner at Manmok too... I think I would definitely attend.

A full whole eel was laid neatly on top. There was not a huge amount of rice—almost half eel, half rice. So happy, haha.

The eel was so tender that it bent right over when I lifted it.

If the eel rice bowl starts to feel a little rich? Add one grain of spice or a little wasabi, and your palate feels refreshed. But I enjoyed it all the way through without getting tired of it. The eel rice bowl was clean-tasting yet deep and richly savory.

Eel rice bowls are delicious whenever you eat them. Manmok in particular has such a well-composed set meal, and perhaps because it uses good eel, the flavor was cleaner with no fishiness. Even the sauce had been grilled on beautifully.

And at the end, they serve ice cream for dessert after the meal: black tea and matcha ice cream. I am not really supposed to have it because of the caffeine, but it looked so delicious that I gave up on sleep and ate it.

Wow, it was seriously so delicious... I had never had ice cream like this before. I think I would buy it even if they sold the ice cream separately.
