In short
Brivit Gangnam Station is an Italian restaurant near Gangnam Station in Seoul. I tried porcini shrimp gnocchi, bacon cream pasta, mushroom soup, and Yorkshire pudding, each with its own texture or pairing to enjoy. Verdict: the crispy outside and chewy center of the gnocchi stood out most.

Visiting Brivit, a popular Gangnam Station brunch spot

I visited Brivit Gangnam Station (브리비트 강남역), a popular Gangnam Station brunch spot that is well known as a nice place for a pre-wedding gathering.

Brivit Gangnam Station is on the first floor at 31 Gangnam-daero 102-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It is 333 m from Exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station on Line 9 and the Shinbundang Line, open daily from 11:30 to 21:15, with last orders at 20:30. Group dining, takeout, delivery, reservations, Wi-Fi, and separate restrooms are available.

I came by last week too, but the wait was so long that I ended up eating somewhere else. It was busy again this day, but luckily there was a table, so I got in straight away without waiting.

Choose your menu and ring the bell, and someone comes over to take your order. Just a note for my own records: the female staff member had such a pretty smile with her eyes... I dropped my fork and she brought me another one, and I was totally startled by how pretty she was when she handed it over. (Secretly, I deleted ten lines because I wrote way too much about how pretty she was.)

The brunch dishes we ordered
We ordered porcini shrimp gnocchi, bacon cream pasta, mushroom soup, and Yorkshire pudding. For drinks, we chose one Coca-Cola and one Pepsi Zero.

The self-service bar has pickles, drinks, and napkins. Cola or Pepsi, whichever you prefer.
Crispy and chewy porcini shrimp gnocchi
The porcini shrimp gnocchi came out first. It is said to be 100% handmade gnocchi, with a crispy exterior and a chewy center.

The texture was a little different from typical gnocchi from the start. It had a slightly fried-like crispness on the outside while staying chewy inside, making it quite unique among the gnocchi I have tried.

The cream sauce with porcini mushrooms and shrimp worked well too, but above all, the gnocchi’s texture was what made this dish memorable.

With porcini mushrooms and shrimp in the cream sauce, it was nutty and gently fragrant with mushrooms.
Bacon cream pasta with vegetables as the secret touch
Oh, this is good! This was the bacon cream pasta. It has bacon and flat iron steak in a mushroom-based cream sauce.

The cream sauce was not too heavy, and the mushroom flavor added a lovely savory depth. With both bacon and flat iron steak in it, every bite tasted a little different.

They topped it with finely chopped greens, something like green lettuce, and that was quietly the secret touch.

It added a fresh note now and then as I ate the cream pasta, so the combination was better than I expected.

Mushroom soup and Yorkshire pudding together
The mushroom soup, made with mushrooms and cream, was smooth with a rich mushroom flavor. It was packed with mushrooms, so the flavor was great.

The Yorkshire pudding that came with it was interesting because it was hollow inside, a little like a puffed bread. You can eat it on its own, but I dipped mine into the soup. The smooth soup soaked slightly into the inside, and it actually paired really well this way.

Overall, the dishes were fun because each had its own point of interest in texture or pairing, rather than simply being familiar, safe flavors. The porcini shrimp gnocchi especially stayed with me for its fried-like exterior and chewy center.

I was even more curious because I had to turn away once because of the wait, so I was happy to have a relaxed meal this time. Brivit Gangnam Station was somewhere that made me want to try other dishes next time too.
