I paid out of my own pocket for a rice cake cake for my grandmother's birthday here before, and it was so satisfying that I came back to Tteokmama Yullyang. This time, instead of a custom order, here's my review of just picking out regular rice cakes off the shelf~

Where is Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch, and is there parking?
Tteokmama Cheongju Yullyang Branch is a rice cake café on the 1st floor of a building on the main road near Deokseong Elementary School in Yullyang-dong, Cheongju. There's parking for 3–4 cars right next to the building, so it's easy to drive here too.

Tteokmama is a nationwide chain! The Yullyang-dong branch is on the main road near Deokseong Elementary School. It's on a large ground floor space right on the main road, so it's easy to find. The parking lot fits 3–4 cars, which also makes it great for a quick coffee run!
They deliver free nationwide and reservation pickup is really easy, so I use this place a lot! If I suddenly need to gift a birthday rice cake cake, I can just book it on Naver the day before and it's done — so convenient!!!
Especially as someone who's ordered a lot of rice cake cakes, the fact that you don't have to fill out a form on KakaoTalk asking about price, design, and scheduling is a real advantage!!!
How much is Chuseok songpyeon at Tteokmama in 2026?
Tteokmama Yullyang's 2026 Chuseok songpyeon (crescent-shaped rice cake) is ₩18,000 per kg, with a 2kg gift set at ₩35,000. Mosi songpyeon (ramie-leaf songpyeon) is ₩20,000 per kg, with a 2kg gift set at ₩39,000.

The 2026 Chuseok songpyeon prices are up now. I also got a birthday cake here for my boyfriend's parents once, and the bojagi (wrapping cloth) gift wrap was so pretty I was really satisfied — haha. The price isn't expensive, so I worried the wrapping might be shabby, but you don't need to worry about that when gifting.
A rice cake shop with café seating: why it suits older family members
Tteokmama also runs a café alongside the rice cake shop! Coffee, non-coffee drinks, smoothies, iced tea, patbingsu (shaved ice), sikhye (sweet rice punch), ades, and a whole range of health juices too. It's packed with things elders would love!!! If you ever need to take your parents or grandparents out, I highly recommend this café.

Tteokmama makes siru-tteok (steamed layered rice cake) using domestic rice! Last time I got red bean siru-tteok for my grandmother's birthday, and even my grandma — who's been going to an old-school rice cake shop at the market for custom orders for years — said this one was delicious and was satisfied with the quality!! They have kids' drinks too, so it's a great café to visit as a family during the holidays!!!

They even have two rice cake craftspeople on staff 👍 That gave me a lot of trust in Tteokmama Yullyang. The inside of the shop has such a huge variety of rice cakes — wow, I couldn't believe how they make it all.

There are also neat, upscale-feeling tables where you can sit and enjoy coffee with your rice cake. When I went, it was a weekday lunchtime, and a group of elders were already sitting there chatting over coffee.
Drinks at Tteokmama: sikhye, sujeonggwa and cream chapssaltteok

They have every kind of sikhye too. From organic sikhye to slow-brewed sikhye and slow-brewed sujeonggwa (cinnamon punch), there's a wide range of healthy traditional drinks — just pick whatever you like from the fridge and check out.

There's no one who's tried this rice cake just once!! The cream chapssaltteok (cream-filled sweet rice cake) comes in every flavor haha. From Dubai chocolate tteok to injeolmi cream tteok, green tea cream tteok, and more — it puts regular dessert shops to shame 🤍 I used to be a bread person over rice cakes, but I got hooked on these once and couldn't stop. Watch out, one bite in and you'll gain +5kg. Seriously, seriously delicious!! They come boxed, so they're great for gifting, or buy some, stash them in your freezer at home, and eat one at a time slowly~~

And here's the one that's hot right now!!! Turn around and you'll see it — Han Jung-sun style fruit chapssaltteok! A chewy chapssaltteok-style skin filled with red bean paste and fruit like strawberry, grape, and tangerine. This is a total hit item with kids, so if your kids won't stop asking for it, bring them here haha.

Songpyeon, baekseolgi and injeolmi on the counter
Songpyeon comes in sesame and bean varieties, and baekseolgi (plain steamed rice cake) has 4–5 flavor types too. There are sulppang (rice wine bread) varieties too, some with red bean filling and some without — Tteokmama really has it all...

Injeolmi (bean-powder-coated rice cake) also comes in pumpkin, mugwort, black injeolmi, and more varieties. Probably the widest selection among rice cake shops in Yullyang-dong, Cheongju!! There are even refrigerated and frozen packaged products haha. It's a great rice cake shop for Cheongju daycare snacks or custom orders for events in Cheongju, but also just as a spot to stop by and buy a little for yourself.

Handmade yakgwa and hangwa as holiday gifts, not just thank-you rice cakes
Instead of the usual reply-gift rice cake, they also sell yakgwa (honey cookie), hangwa (traditional sweets), orangdae, and other traditional snacks in pretty packaging — great as a promotion treat in Cheongju too. There were so many types of yakgwa that I ended up grabbing some myself while browsing, haha.

In the end I walked out with a big haul... There was so much variety that even after picking and choosing, this is what I ended up with.

Top pick: individually wrapped gamjatteok (potato rice cake)
My picks were handmade yakgwa, tricolor sulppang, songpyeon, baekseolgi, and gamjatteok (potato rice cake)!!!!

My absolute top pick was the gamjatteok — it satisfied me the most. I especially loved that it was individually wrapped. A few days ago in Gangneung, I bought market gamjatteok that all stuck together and ended up tearing apart, so this individual-wrapping thoughtfulness really moved me. None of the rice cakes were too sweet, and all of them were tasty. I'd recommend this place for custom event rice cakes or reply-gift rice cakes in Cheongju.
