My dad on my side of the family loves snow crab so much that he even held his 70th-birthday celebration at a crab restaurant, so I quickly headed to a local-favorite crab spot in Pohang’s Jukdo Market for him ❤️
How do you get there from Jukdo Market Public Parking Lot No. 3?
First, park at Jukdo Market Public Parking Lot No. 3. The entrance is on the inner side of the market ⭐️ Regular cars can park on level 2.

Just keep walking straight through the tunnel-like passage in the photo.

After about two minutes, you’ll see the crab and sashimi street sign on your right. Walk in just a little farther. Ta-da! On the second sign on the right, you’ll spot “Master of Living” 👍🏻 and “local favorite” 👍🏻 Yeonggwang Hoe Daegae Center. It really catches your eye right from the entrance.

I had a look at all the fresh seafood. And right as you enter the restaurant, there’s this striking banner message.
First floor or second floor: where should you sit?
First-floor interior
If you love a lively, bustling atmosphere with that human warmth, I absolutely recommend the first floor ^^ But if there are no seats, you’ll have to head upstairs.
Second-floor interior
You can have a quiet, private meal up there, so regulars naturally seemed to head up to the second floor ☺️
Ordering the Bakdal snow crab special set for four

We ordered the signature Bakdal snow crab special set for four 🫶
What comes with the snow crab set?

The first dish to arrive after we sat down was chilled pufferfish-skin salad ❤️ It went so well with the sweet-and-tangy sauce, and it was wonderfully chewy and delicious!! The texture was a little like cold jokbal (braised pig’s trotter) skin—just perfect for waking up your appetite 🫶

Then all the side dishes came out at once. There was bamboo sticky rice, sea snail, sea squirt, fries, seasoned skate, bangpung greens, sea-snail-and-seaweed konjac noodles, shrimp sushi, corn cheese, fried bread crab, fried cod cheek, and so many more dishes 😆

When you go out for snow crab or sashimi, there often isn’t much for kids to eat, so you pack sheets of gim (roasted seaweed), right? Don’t worry. Give them a bite of the sweet bamboo sticky rice and they really eat it up; I picked the flesh off the fried cod cheek for rice, and the bowl disappeared in no time!! There were even fries and fruit cocktail for dessert 😊
The shrimp sushi was so fresh that it had none of that fishy taste and was absolutely perfect 😆 The bangpung greens tasted even better with chojang (spicy vinegar sauce) poured over them! It was my first time trying sea snail, and its chewy texture and sea aroma were so tasty 🫶
This was nakji tangtangi (chopped live octopus) that the owner gave us on the house ❤️ It was wriggling-fresh, chewy, tender, and delicious when I put it in my mouth!! By the way, isn’t the owner giving us way too much? 🤣
What is going on with the quality of this assorted sashimi? ❤️ They slice it fresh right by the entrance, and it was thick and chewy—I just couldn’t stop picking it up with my chopsticks 😍 Sashimi has to be wrapped in perilla leaves, of course ❤️

My first mulhoe (cold raw-fish soup) of the year. There’s gochujang in the mulhoe, so mix that first, then add the broth 🫶 It wasn’t very spicy; it was sweet, tangy, and so delicious!! The little crunchy bites of abalone throughout were the highlight ❣️

Ta-da~~ At last, the snow crab is here 😍😍😍😍 It came fully prepared, so it was easy to eat. There were heaps of shrimp and heaps of Venus clams, too. The sweet shrimp heart the auntie made us 🦐 Now, gloves on and let’s really dig in!
This has to be a 100% meat yield, right? The snow crab was packed absolutely full of meat!? I ate the claw meat my dad picked out, and it was so firm and springy. You can even see how plump the meat between the leg joints was, right? We bent the joints and got every last bit of meat out 😍
It was my first time trying Venus clams, too. They looked unusual, and they were sweet and chewy—so good 🫶 We also cooked snow crab ramen in snow crab broth. And we made spicy fish stew properly, too, haha. The auntie asked, “Would you like more ingredients for the spicy fish stew?” and we all sang out together, “No! We feel like we’re going to burst!” Seriously, they just keep giving you more.
Convenient facilities when dining with a child

There’s a microwave that’s handy for warming baby food, and a milk coffee vending machine, too ^^ It was convenient that plates, plastic gloves, and other things we needed were set out for self-service, and they also had baby chairs.

Make sure to get your parking ticket when you pay and leave ⭐️
Warm snow crab and a generous spread

I heard they were featured on Master of Living for quickly separating snow crab, and maybe that’s why the crab was warm and even more delicious~ They also clearly disclosed the origin of their ingredients, which made the restaurant feel trustworthy ❤️ The staff were all so kind, and it’s somewhere I’d want to visit again whenever I’m craving snow crab. If you’re in Pohang or Daegu and want snow crab, I recommend Yeonggwang Hoe Daegae Center, a great snow crab restaurant in Jukdo Market.
