Pohang crab restaurant, meaty set: Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang

When you travel to Pohang, Jukdo Market is one of those must-stop places! But with so many crab restaurants, it can be hard to choose, so today I’m introducing a great Pohang crab spot I revisited! Shall we take a look at the meaty Bakkal snow crab and the abundant table spread? 🦀

Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang location and reserved visit

Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang (갈릴리대게회식당) is on Daegae Hoe Center Street, about a nine-minute walk straight in from the entrance to Jukdo Market. Once you reach the street, it’s around the middle on the left!

If you’re driving, I recommend the parking lot marked on the map! It can get crowded on weekends, so I recommend looking around according to the situation.

We visited at around 6 p.m. on Saturday. There were already lots of families and couples eating inside, and the reservation board was packed too!

Oh, and there was group seating on the second floor too!

Because we came after making a reservation, we could sit down right away.

Also, the tanks outside were managed so cleanly that I couldn’t spot any grime at all, and all the crab and seafood looked super fresh haha.

Bakkal snow crab set for two and the starter spread

There were various set menus, including domestic Bakkal snow crab, Bakkal snow crab, red snow crab, Yeongdeok snow crab, and shrimp sets. We were told that Yeongdeok snow crab was difficult to order because it was closed season when we visited, so we ordered the Bakkal snow crab set for two at ₩130,000!

After we ordered, the starter spread began arriving, filling the table right up...!

Abalone porridge, soy-marinated crab, fried items, mulhoe (cold raw-fish soup), corn cheese, white kimchi, and more came first, followed by sashimi, sea squirts, whelks, and abalone haha.

Then warm clam soup arrived too, and honestly, this alone would be enough for a bottle of soju haha. Everything was tasty, but my top pick was the soy-marinated crab... It was as good as the kind from a restaurant specializing in it haha.

Finally, today’s star, the Bakkal snow crab, appeared! 🦀 (Along with two cute shrimp.) Just from the photo, can you see how packed it is with meat?

You might think one crab sounds like too little, but nope, not at all! It was packed with meat, and the crab itself was huge. It was bigger than an adult man’s hand, and even the claw legs were enormous haha.

What more is there to say about the distinctively sweet flavor of Bakkal snow crab~~

Dipping plump claw meat into the rich tomalley was just ridiculously good... If, like me, you care about how meaty your snow crab is, I think you’ll love this!

Finishing with crab-shell rice and spicy fish stew

After working hard on the snow crab, I started craving carbs haha, so we added crab-shell rice and maeuntang (spicy fish stew)!

I finished with the nutty crab-shell rice, and the spicy fish stew made the meal feel so satisfying.

The spicy fish stew wasn’t overly hot, just pleasantly spicy, so it would be perfect as a hangover cure too,

and since you can enjoy not only snow crab but also abundant side dishes and seafood, this is one of my revisit spots that I’d recommend for a family meal or for anyone wanting a special meal while traveling in Pohang with their partner haha.
