Today's review is of a skewer bar known as a yakitori favorite in Sangin-dong, Daegu. I'd been there before, but a craving for skewers hit again recently, so I went back — it's Toriaejeu Sangin Daegu Branch.
This place is already so loved that even late on a weekday night it's packed with customers — a real Sangin-dong hotspot! The atmosphere is great for a date, and it's also a nice mood for a quick second round in Sangin-dong. Let's get into the review.

They seem to be running a corkage-free event from September 13 to 23! It's nice being able to bring your own favorite drink and pair it with Toriaejeu's delicious yakitori skewers.
For parking, you can use the Lotte Cinema Sangin parking lot for ₩2,000 per hour! After parking, follow the alley to the right, walk past Dalbae Park's alleyway, and Toriaejeu Sangin Daegu Branch comes into view.
Inside Toriaejeu: seating and atmosphere
On a day when you don't want to travel far from the Sangin-dong hotspot area but still want tasty skewers and a light drink, this is a great choice. Stepping inside, the same pretty Japanese-style interior greets you. ✔️Recommended for a light drink with great skewers in Sangin-dong
The inner seats are usually full, but since I visited during a relatively quiet time, I was able to sit at one of them.
Near the restroom, I noticed they'd also posted recommendations for other Sangin-dong restaurants. It's nice to see local spots cross-promoting each other.

Ballantine's (₩7.0) and Jameson (₩7.0) ordered too! The drink lineup is huge, so there's real fun in picking. In this cozy Sangin-dong izakaya, pairing warmly and carefully grilled negima, chicken skin, and tsukune skewers with a cold draft beer or highball sounds like the perfect stress reliever.
How the tsukune and sujitang tasted
Before the yakitori tsukune came out, we got a basic side dish first: raw cabbage with a Japanese-style miso sauce. The texture was great and it was genuinely delicious — right up my alley!
Then the Ballantine's (₩7.0) and Jameson (₩7.0) arrived. They came in pretty, chilled ice cups, which was such a nice touch. A cold sip and the fatigue just melts away. ✔️Recommended Sangin-dong bar for draft beer and highballs
And then the incredibly tasty signature tsukune (₩4.9), two of them, arrived. What's great about Toriaejeu is you don't have to order a ton — it's a quiet izakaya where one skewer and one highball is completely fine.

The tsukune we chose is a Japanese-style chicken meatball skewer, made by finely mincing chicken and shaping it into a long form like a hot bar, then grilling it over charcoal. The texture is crisp outside and juicy inside — so good. The sauce is sweet and salty, which I loved too.
Tip for eating it right: beat an egg yolk well, dip the tsukune deeply into it, and it neutralizes the saltiness of the sauce, giving you a very rich, smooth flavor.
Negima and chicken skin are also popular items here, so I'll have to try them all on my next visit.
I was also craving something soupy, so I ordered the sujitang (₩7.0) — chewy beef tendon, soft fried tofu, and a bone-broth-style soup that was wonderfully refreshing. Feeling good, I even had a Tori highball to wrap up the day cleanly.
