Sinwolseong gopchang restaurant in Daegu with clam soup: Miso Gopchang
In short
Miso Gopchang Wolseong is a restaurant in Sinwolseong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu specialising in Korean beef gopchang (small intestine) and marchang. The writer ordered two servings of the Miso Assorted Platter and one of Miso Marchang at 25,000 won each, plus perilla oil kimchi fried rice, and added the complimentary abalone clam soup and a draft beer; the heart, gopchang and milk-fed large intestine were all tender with no gamey smell. Miso Gopchang Wolseong won over even a diner who had never enjoyed gopchang before.

Miso Gopchang Wolseong / Wolseong-dong restaurant, Sinwolseong restaurant / Sinwolseong beef gopchang restaurant
Let me introduce a gopchang (beef intestine) spot in Sinwolseong✨️ Even someone like me who doesn't usually eat gopchang was blown away, and it's the kind of place I want to come back to often. Being Korean beef, there was no gamey smell at all, and it was soft and savory — here's my review of Miso Gopchang in Wolseong-dong.

Where to park near Miso Gopchang Wolseong
Since it's in such a busy commercial strip, I worried about parking. Luckily there was space to park in the alley behind the restaurant, so it wasn't too hard.
Inside the restaurant and the prize claw game
Miso Gopchang Wolseong is a cozy spot with just over 10 tables, decorated with retro touches that made it feel warm and familiar. The little props scattered around showed off the owner's sense of style✨
And this old-school claw machine? Total nostalgia trip — I used to play these all the time as a kid buying bread at the corner store... haha

While waiting for the meat, I played the claw machine — 5th prize was a round of the crane game, but somehow I ended up winning 4th prize😉✌️ Yay

Didn't win the crane game, but a cold draft beer made up for it double 🍺

You can also help yourself to cold yogurt sherbet ice cream, so don't miss it after your meal🍦
Miso Gopchang Wolseong menu and prices

Miso Gopchang's main menu items are the assorted platter / beef milk-fed large intestine / gopchang / marchang / heart😋 They use fresh domestic Korean beef slaughtered the same day in Gunwi, so you can trust the quality even more.
I was going to order mostly marchang, but the owner told me that gopchang and daechang (large intestine) are especially popular with first-time visitors, so I ordered the assorted platter instead — and I'm glad I listened to her advice🫢
🏷Order: Miso Assorted Platter ₩25,000 ×2, Miso Marchang ₩25,000 ×1
Eating two assorted platters plus one serving of marchang

The clam soup is set down first. It even has abalone in it, and this comes free — amazing👍
Once it starts bubbling, the owner comes and cleans/preps it herself, so it was easy to eat comfortably.
Fresh, sweet clams with a cool, spicy broth — perfect as a hangover cure👏👏

The assorted platter comes out already mostly grilled, so it looks even more delicious with that golden-brown color🥹
The owner cuts it up right away. She said only the daechang needed a little more grilling.
Heart gets tough if overcooked, so it's best to eat that first.

The heart was chewy and clean-tasting in a way that's incomparable to street skewers...💕 Each piece was big and generous in portion, too, haha

The Korean beef gopchang that won over a gopchang sceptic
Gopchang isn't something I normally order, so at first I wasn't going to get it, but one bite completely changed my mind.

Zero bitterness that beef gopchang can sometimes have — just savory, rich flavor that's amazing❗️ And on top of that it was tender... it was so good🫢🫢 A genuine gopchang gem of a restaurant.

What do marchang and milk-fed large intestine taste like?
The beef marchang was similarly soft with a springy, chewy texture that stood out. Dipped in sesame oil salt, it lets you enjoy the clean flavor typical of marchang, and it also went great with Miso's all-purpose special meat sauce.

The chives served alongside cut the richness nicely — I asked for extra and enjoyed it even more.
The beef milk-fed large intestine, grilled a bit longer, was totally crispy-outside-tender-inside — with juices as savory as milk itself gushing out, filling my mouth with joy🫶 Absolutely a must-visit spot in Sinwolseong!

Ending the meal with perilla oil kimchi fried rice
Last but not least, the perilla oil kimchi fried rice💕 They cooked it with some leftover marchang mixed in, and even though it's a single serving, the portion is huge, haha

Packed with kimchi and fried in beef fat, the savory aroma is insane — impossible for it not to taste good🫠 After eating gopchang, the fried rice is a must!! haha

I finally found my all-time favorite gopchang restaurant...☺️ Whether you already love gopchang or you're trying it for the first time, one bite here and you'll be won over too, haha
