Since my baby was born, going to a smoky, crowded BBQ restaurant hasn't been easy at all. She's only 4 months old now, so eating out means thinking about a dozen little things — but I was so happy after visiting Hanmaeum Jeonggyuk Restaurant in Wadong, Daejeon, that I had to write this up!

Outdoor space: choose between a caravan and a tent

You can choose between a caravan and a tent. Tent fees are ₩15,000 on weekdays and ₩20,000 on weekends and holidays.

As soon as I arrived, the caravans lined up in a row caught my eye — small and round, they were seriously so cute! 😆

They also had baby chairs well stocked for families with young kids! (Cute little bunnies too.. 🐰) For anyone bringing a young baby or small kids like me, the flow and convenience of the space are really well thought out.

We chose a tent this time! The space was quite spacious, so it never felt cramped at all. You don't even need to drive out to the outskirts of Daejeon or go far to get that camping feeling — this place nails it 😎
If you come in the evening, there's also a spot that's perfect for fire-gazing! Full-on camping vibes ⛺️
Kids' zone & outdoor water play area
If your kids are a bit older, there's also a kids' zone and a summer outdoor water play area, which looks great for them to play in. It made me want to come back once my baby is a little bigger, to send her off to play in the water and the kids' zone. (Honestly, I wanted to run around too 😭)
What's in the mini mart & self bar

The mini mart was selling water guns to play with at the water park, and surprisingly, they even had a machine to make your own steamed egg! I stood there watching it for a while, it was so interesting. There was also ice cream for a nice palate cleanser after the meal, so dessert is fully covered right there in the mini mart.

Basic side dishes, vegetables, and scallion salad were all available at the central self bar — take as much as you like. Various utensils and dishware were provided too!
Private spaces with their own AC and mosquito coils

Even outdoors, the air conditioning was blasting! And a thoughtful touch with the mosquito coil too! 👍 Despite the outdoor camping vibe, each space had its own individual air conditioner, so we could enjoy it comfortably and coolly without worrying about the heat. Plus, since it's outdoors, I was a bit worried about mosquitoes and bugs, but the owner thoughtfully lit a mosquito coil for us! Thanks to that care, even with the baby along, we could eat with total peace of mind. 😆

Plenty of room for a big stroller too! The water park noise was basically white noise, so the baby slept well the whole meal.. (which meant mom and dad got to feast happily 💕)
How was the aged pork platter?
At first we set up at the table in front of the outdoor tent to eat with that camping feel! Basic side dishes and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) all set! Doenjang jjigae only tastes right if you keep it simmering 🥹

What we ordered was the aged pork platter!!

There was individual ssamjang (dipping sauce), oil, salt, and even fresh ssam (wrap) vegetables — really well done!
Grilling meat outdoors with the breeze on your face felt amazing!! Since we went at lunchtime it got a bit hot, so we moved the food into the cool tent and kept the feast going comfortably.

Maybe because it's a butcher's restaurant, the meat quality was genuinely excellent. It's aged meat, so once it's grilled through on the pan there's no gamey smell at all, and the juices burst out while it goes down smooth and tender.
I wrapped up a hearty bite with meat and all the side dishes packed in!
Finishing the meat isn't the end.. we ordered two instant rice and finished it all off with fried rice too. (You have to get the fried rice, no question..)
If you've been hesitant to eat out with a baby
I really recommend this to anyone who's been hesitant to eat out with a kid.. Thanks to the private, separate tent, we had a cozy time and ate delicious meat in cool air conditioning, and it felt like stress I'd been carrying finally melted away. If you want to enjoy a delicious meal out with full-on camping vibes somewhere not far from the outskirts of Daejeon, definitely pay a visit to Hanmaeum Jeonggyuk Restaurant in Wadong!
