Daedeok Korean restaurant for barley rice sets: Baengnyeon Boribap

In short

Baengnyeon Boribap is a Korean restaurant in Daedeok, Daejeon, serving barley rice set meals with self-serve side dishes. We filled up on a two-person set with cheonggukjang and pork cutlets, plus dessert snacks and misutgaru. Baengnyeon Boribap is a great pick when you want a generous Korean meal.

Parking and atmosphere at Baengnyeon Boribap

🚗 What I liked right away about Baengnyeon Boribap was its spacious parking. There is a first parking lot right in front of the restaurant, and even a second one beside it, so there is plenty of room. Parking can be secretly stressful when visiting a restaurant by car, but I do not think you would have to worry about it here at all 👍

⏰ Hours are 11:00–20:30, with a break from 15:00–17:00. Last orders are at 14:30 for lunch and 20:00 for dinner, so keep that in mind when you visit!

🏠 I happened to visit during the soft-opening period, September 2–7, and the official opening was September 10, 2026. Maybe that is why, but the restaurant was so clean and tidy overall—it really had that brand-new great-restaurant feel ✨ Even during the soft opening, everything was well organized, and the space itself was roomy, with comfortable spacing between tables, so it was easy to enjoy a meal.

There was also a separate, comfortable waiting room for guests in line. Lunch can get busy, so I liked that they had even considered the waiting space 😊

What comes with the cheonggukjang pork cutlet barley rice set

🍚 That day, we ordered the cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), pork cutlet, and barley rice set for two. At first I thought everyone had to order the same set, but it turns out each person can choose a different set menu. If I had known that in advance, I would have picked another item too—such a tiny regret ㅠㅠ

When you sit down, there are two large plates and a small one! You fill the large plates with side dishes from the self-serve bar, and the small plate is for bringing back extra side dishes. Having plenty of plates made it nice to try all the different dishes 👏👏 They bring out barley rice first, too!

Self-serve side dishes and rice refills

🥗 Now it was time to go get the self-serve side dishes. There were more varieties than I expected, from assorted seasoned vegetables that are perfect in barley rice bibimbap (mixed rice) to braised pork in soy sauce, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and muk-muchim (seasoned acorn jelly) 🫢🫢

On top of that, there was white rice, barley rice, and sungnyung (scorched-rice tea), so you could freely help yourself to more if you needed it 👍👍

I wanted to taste a bit of everything, so I took a little of each side dish—and it was enough to fill my plate 😆 Then the cheonggukjang stew arrived, and it really felt like a full Korean spread!

Mixing the barley rice and the more-than-expected pork cutlets

🥄 Everything was finally ready! Time to mix up the barley rice and dig in ~🤤🤤

Just add gochujang (Korean red chili paste) and sesame oil to the barley rice, then give it a good mix. Adding a few spoonfuls of cheonggukjang makes it even tastier ‼️‼️

A bowl of barley rice with cheonggukjang

The nutty flavor unique to barley rice, mixed with all those seasoned vegetables and side dishes, was so good. A barley rice set like this really is all about mixing it up generously and enjoying it 😋

🍽️ I was happily eating my barley rice when the pork cutlets appeared. When the first plate came out, I naturally assumed that one plate was for two people, and we were enjoying it 😗

But then……? Another whole plate came out hahaha 🤣 Wait, what! It turned out the pork cutlet portion was seriously generous too! The cutlets were crispy and delicious, but after already having a huge bowl of barley rice, adding pork cutlets made me feel like I might burst 😂 Still, somehow there is always room for delicious food…

Dessert and discount benefits

Baengnyeon Boribap also has snacks and misutgaru (multigrain powder drink) for dessert 👍👍

🍪 I was incredibly full, but of course there is always a separate dessert stomach! Haha, I did not stop there—I thoroughly enjoyed sungnyung → snacks → misutgaru, hahaha.

💰 Baengnyeon Boribap also has a nice discount benefit. Tables dining with a pregnant person, service member, or birthday celebrant can receive 10% off. If that applies to you, it would be worth checking before your visit. Such a good perk 👍

I even picked up a snack on my way out 😆 Those little desserts made the meal feel even nicer to finish.

Baengnyeon Boribap in Sintanjin, Daejeon: overall review

Overall, this was a barley rice set restaurant where you can eat a lot and leave truly satisfied. You can mix barley rice with a range of side dishes, and the set comes with cheonggukjang stew; with pork cutlets on top of that, it is a seriously filling meal. The parking lot was especially spacious, and the restaurant itself was roomy and pleasant, so it seemed like a good option for a family meal or dining with a larger group. The owner was also incredibly kind! Full marks for the service too 💯💯

Baengnyeon Boribap gives you such a generous amount that next time I want to come with someone who can really eat well hahaha. Between the barley rice, side dishes, cheonggukjang, pork cutlets, and dessert, you will be completely full 😂
