In short
Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji Cheongdang Branch is a new pork belly and beef rib (ugalbi) barbecue restaurant in Cheongdang-dong, Cheonan. On a weekday late lunch, two servings of ugalbi, doenjang stew, two bowls of rice and a zero-sugar Pepsi ordered through Pass Order came to 45,000 won, and a staff member grilled the beef ribs at the table, which disappeared in 10 minutes dipped in the salted pollack roe sauce. Changing sauces alone made each bite taste new, so the meal never got boring.

After finishing a wedding hall tour... I was so hungry on a weekday afternoon that I lost my mind and rushed to a place — Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji Cheongdang Branch, a pork belly restaurant that's the talk of Cheongdang-dong, Cheonan!
If you check my blog, you'll see I've been to the Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji flagship store with my own money more than 10 times — it's basically my go-to pork belly spot. After the flagship and the Seongseong-dong branch, I heard a Cheongdang-dong branch just opened, so I rushed right over haha
Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji Cheongdang Branch: the exterior and free soy-sauce egg rice for kids under 5
Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji Cheongdang Branch is located at 39 Cheongsu 9-ro, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, 1st floor. The big "Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji" sign caught my eye from far away.

There was also a banner saying they give a free soy-egg rice if you come with a child under 5. The Seongseong branch had the same banner — I guess neighborhoods with lots of babies get this kind of thing.

Inside the Cheongdang Branch: an open hall with a duct over every table
The dining hall at Motsaenggin Cheongdang Branch was genuinely spacious, and with all the windows open, there wasn't a single stuffy feeling.

Each table had its own duct hanging right down over it, which made my worry about smelling like meat afterward feel completely unnecessary!

How much is ugalbi (beef rib) for two at Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji?
We used the Pass Order system to order Motddung ugalbi (beef rib) for two, doenjang stew, two bowls of rice, and one zero-sugar Pepsi, and the total came to ₩45,000! It had been a while since I had ugalbi at Motddung, so I was so excited even before we started eating hahaha

The 5 dipping sauces and the best way to eat ugalbi here
Motddung comes with so many sauces that reading the "how to eat" guide carefully is basically required.

The guide sign is posted on the wall. It kindly lists combos from meat + gim (dried seaweed) + soy sauce, meat + pickled radish + kelp, meat + aged kimchi, all the way to perilla leaf + salted hairtail and wraps with mustard leaf kimchi — I tried following every single one, one by one, lol

The dipping sauces alone come in five kinds — soy sauce, salted hairtail, salt, salted pollack roe, and egg yolk — so even with the same meat, switching sauces made it feel like a brand new flavor every time, which is Motddung's real signature!!

Side dishes and doenjang stew at Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji
The side dishes were the same as the flagship store's — seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned cucumber, kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, perilla leaves, so many kinds that it was fun to pick and choose. A fried egg and corn butter also came as sides, making the meal feel even more filling!

The doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) arrived bubbling hot with big chunks of tofu inside, and the seasoning was mild enough that I kept reaching for more.

Ugalbi verdict: staff grill it for you, and it's gone in 10 minutes
Finally, the main event — ugalbi! The thick cut still on the bone completely stole the show visually....

A staff member grilled it for us directly, and their handling and cutting were genuinely skilled. I was so hungry that I ate in a hurry, but the juices were still alive and it was so tender that it disappeared in a flash ㅠㅠ Basically... gone in 10 minutes...?

Among the five dipping sauces from the guide sign earlier, the salted pollack roe combo was exactly my taste! The staff were all kind too.

I went there starving and left having cleared two servings of ugalbi plus the rice — even eating in a hurry, the flavor never got tiring, which surprised me. The doenjang stew was satisfying enough that I finished every last drop of broth too! If you're looking for a pork belly restaurant in Cheongdang-dong, Cheonan, give Motsaenggin Ttungdwaeji Cheongdang Branch a try :)
