My sister and I decided to grab dinner together after work. Craving something hot and soupy, I searched for hangover soup restaurants in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan, and came across Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch, a yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) specialist. We went and gave it a try.
They had all kinds of yukgaejang — gopchang (beef intestine), budae (army stew style), sundubu (soft tofu) — and we ended up ordering the sundubu yukgaejang and the yangji seolleongtang. The sundubu yukgaejang, packed with ingredients, turned out to be a really satisfying meal.

You can use the shared lot in front of the restaurant. It's shared with the neighboring restaurants, but there was plenty of space so parking wasn't difficult. The lot itself was a gravel patch.

The moment we walked in, it felt clean and pleasant. The interior looked spotless, as if it had opened recently.

The wood-toned interior gave the place a cozy feel.

There were about 10 to 15 four-person tables, and the spacing between them was wide enough that we could eat comfortably without worrying about the tables next to us.

There were a lot of fusion-style menus that add different ingredients to the basic yukgaejang — chadol (thin brisket), gopchang (beef intestine), budae (army stew style), sundubu (soft tofu). They also had dakgaejang and yukkalguksu (beef knife-cut noodle soup), so if you like kalguksu, the yukkalguksu might be worth trying too.
My sister and I ordered the sundubu yukgaejang for ₩11,000 and the yangji seolleongtang for ₩11,000.
Free self-serve side dish refills
As soon as we sat down, the side dishes arrived right away — three kinds: stir-fried fish cake, chive salad, and seokbakji (radish kimchi). The fish cake was well-seasoned and the chive salad had just the right amount of seasoning too.

The seokbakji wasn't too sour and was fermented just right. It went perfectly with both the yukgaejang and the seolleongtang.

You can refill the same three side dishes as much as you want at a self-service corner in the middle of the restaurant. My sister and I went back for more fish cake and seokbakji because they were so good.
The food came out about 7–8 minutes after ordering. It felt a bit slower than expected, but apparently they only start cooking once the order comes in — which meant we got to eat everything freshly made.
How does the loaded sundubu yukgaejang taste?

My sister's sundubu yukgaejang. One spoonful in and it exceeded expectations — the spicy, sharp kick that's characteristic of yukgaejang really woke up the appetite.
Above all, the ingredients were incredibly generous. Glass noodles, scallions, egg, and soft tofu filled the broth. Every scoop of the spoon brought up a mountain of stuff.

The soft, silky tofu went down smoothly, and the glass noodles soaked up the broth nicely, making them easy to slurp up.

Spicy yet hearty — this is a place I'd genuinely call a top hangover soup spot in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan. It seemed like it would work great for curing a hangover too.
How does the cauldron-simmered yangji seolleongtang taste?

The dish I ordered was the yangji seolleongtang. It was almost my first time having seolleongtang with brisket (yangji) as the meat, and there was genuinely a lot of it in the bowl.
The broth was clean yet had a deep bone-broth flavor that I really liked. Apparently the bone broth is brewed in a traditional cauldron.

Laying the brisket over the milky, rich broth added a nutty depth that kept me coming back for more spoonfuls. The seasoning was just right too, pairing well with rice, kimchi, and seokbakji. After finishing, I felt satisfyingly full and nourished.

They also use domestic scallions, which made me trust the quality even more.
Soft piano music in the dining room

Soft piano instrumentals played throughout the restaurant. Eating to gentle ballad instrumentals made it feel more like a restaurant than a typical Korean diner, even though it clearly was one. You could tell the owner had good taste. Thanks to that, my sister and I could have a calm conversation and enjoy a relaxed dinner.
The friendly owner at Yukdaejang in Cheonan

The owner had a warm presence and was kind, which made the meal even more pleasant. We left after a hearty dinner of ingredient-packed sundubu yukgaejang and deeply flavored yangji seolleongtang. Next time, I'm curious about the budae yukgaejang and plan to try it for sure.
The verdict in one line
A yukgaejang restaurant where we ate a hearty meal of spicy, sharp sundubu yukgaejang and deep bone-broth yangji seolleongtang.
With so many types of yukgaejang, it's fun to pick according to your mood that day, and the generous ingredients and portions left us full.
The clean interior with soft piano music playing made for a relaxed dinner, and the owner's kindness made the meal all the more pleasant.
Good for solo diners, family meals, workday lunches, or an evening hangover cure — a place I'd recommend as a top spot for hangover soup in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan.
