In short

Geuni Sikdang Pyeongyang Naengmyeon is a Korean restaurant about a 10-minute walk from Dujeong Station in Cheonan, specializing in Pyeongyang-style naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and hanwoo (Korean beef) dishes. On a weekday lunch visit alone, the writer ordered hanwootangban, rice served in hanwoo 1++ beef broth, and a half plate of minari yukhoe (raw beef with water dropwort) made with 100g of eye of round, and found the beef tender and the broth seasoned just right. With single seats and smart-order tablets at every table, Geuni Sikdang is a filling solo lunch near Dujeong Station.

📍 Geuni Sikdang · 1517 Dujeong-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do

While looking for somewhere to eat alone near Dujeong Station, I found Geuni Sikdang, a restaurant serving Pyeongyang naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and hanwoo (Korean beef) dishes. It's been featured on TV, so I was curious what it would taste like. I visited alone on a weekday for lunch and tried it out myself.

Where is Geuni Sikdang, and where can you park?

What's on the menu at Geuni Sikdang

The signature dishes are hanwoo 1++ eobokjaengban and the special eobokjaengban, alongside meal options like pyeongyang naengmyeon and hanwootangban. Side dishes include hanwoo suyuk (boiled beef), arongsatae suyuk (boiled beef shank), and minari yukhoe (beef tartare with water parsley).

What does hanwootangban (hanwoo beef soup with rice) taste like?

Geuni Sikdang's hanwootangban is rice served already mixed into a broth made from hanwoo 1++ beef, and true to its name, plenty of hanwoo was piled on top of the soup. Since the rice comes already soaked in the broth, there's no need to add a separate bowl of rice — you just start eating with a spoon.

Scooping up the rice and meat together, the hanwoo was really tender, and the broth was seasoned just right — it was so good.

Minari yukhoe half plate: 100g of eye of round

Along with the tangban, I ordered a half plate of minari yukhoe, which came with 100g of hanwoo eye of round generously topped with minari (water parsley). The yukhoe (raw beef tartare) was well-seasoned, and the combination with the fragrant, crunchy minari was especially good.

The side dishes at Geuni Sikdang

The basic side dishes included kimchi, pickled vegetables, peppers, and garlic scapes. There weren't many types, but it was enough to go with the hanwootangban and yukhoe.

Self-serve corner and country-of-origin labeling

There was a self-serve bar in one corner of the restaurant where you could freely help yourself to more side dishes if you ran out. The restaurant also had country-of-origin labeling, a certification for using good-quality meat, a record of TV appearances, and a designation as a Cheonan must-visit restaurant.
