Cheonan Buldang-dong sushi open 7 days: uni gunkan at Ganghan Sushi

Looking for lunch in Buldang-dong, Cheonan, I decided to go for something clean and simple today — sushi.

The place I visited is Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch, which I found while searching for good sushi spots in Cheonan. It's right in the heart of Sinbuldang-dong, and with such a wide variety of sushi on the menu, it looked like a great option for lunch or for going with family or friends.

Let me walk you through my visit — the menu, the vibe of the restaurant, and how parking works.

Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch is on the first floor of 'First Plaza' in Sinbuldang-dong.

After parking underground and heading into the building, I checked the directory and found Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch listed on the first floor — easy to find.

Outside the restaurant is a big 'Ganghan Sushi' sign, and there's a menu board set up right in front of the entrance.

It was nice being able to check what kinds of sushi they have and roughly how much they cost before even walking in.

How does parking work at Ganghan Sushi in Buldang-dong?

Parking is always a bit of a concern when eating out in Buldang-dong. At Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch, you can use the underground parking lot of the First Plaza building where the restaurant is located.

Heading down, I found the underground parking lot well set up, making it convenient to visit by car, and from there it was an easy elevator ride up to the first-floor restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, there's a separate tablet set up for self-service parking registration.

According to the instructions, you enter the last 4 digits of your license plate, look up your vehicle, and can register for up to 2 hours of parking.

If you're visiting by car, don't forget to register your parking after your meal.

Looking over the menu board out front, there were more sushi options than I expected — the Ganghan Sushi 12P for ₩14,000, Ganghan Special Sushi 12P for ₩17,000, Omakase Sushi 12P for ₩23,000, plus a Superior premium raw salmon sushi, a 3kg jumbo flounder sushi, and honma-guro (premium bluefin tuna) sushi.

Beyond the set menus, you can also order individual sushi types in pairs of 2 pieces — salmon, flounder, soy sauce shrimp, freshwater eel, abalone, sweet shrimp, live squid, and more.

There are also side dishes like udon, fried shrimp, takoyaki, and house-made pork loin cutlet that pair nicely with sushi.

Inside Ganghan Sushi: seating and tablet ordering

Stepping inside, the overall wood-toned, bright, and clean interior really stood out.

The soft lighting paired nicely with the bright-colored tables, and everything felt tidy all the way to the back of the restaurant — a comfortable atmosphere for a meal.

There are tables suited for two, as well as seating for larger groups, and I also spotted baby chairs for those visiting with young kids.

Every table has its own tablet, so you can browse menu photos and prices and order right from your seat — very convenient. If you want extra sushi or side dishes later, you can just order again through the tablet without calling a staff member over.

How was the sushi for two with cold soba and uni gunkan?

We sat down and ordered using the tablet on the table. What we ordered that day: two servings of Ganghan Sushi and one cold soba!

After a short wait, the sushi arrived beautifully arranged on a long wooden plate. With salmon, tuna, uni (sea urchin roe), white fish, and egg sushi all in the mix, there was plenty of fun in picking each one to try.

Picking up the pieces one by one, I loved how the rice held together without being mushy, still with a lively texture. The fish on top was thick too, so the more you chewed, the more the natural flavor of the fish came through. 😊

And then there was the uni gunkan sushi, piled generously high! Savory and soft, with the fragrance of scallion adding to it, it filled my mouth with rich flavor. 😋

The salmon sushi with sauce, soft and well-balanced, was also delicious. Little variations like the gunkan sushi kept things interesting all the way through, never getting boring.

The cold soba we ordered alongside was perfect eaten between bites of sushi.

With the chilled broth, noodles, and a bite of the croquette that came with it, my palate felt refreshed and clean. Sushi and cold soba really do go well together.

And of course, a little wasabi on the sushi, dipped in soy sauce! 😋 The clean flavor of the fish combined with the sharp kick of wasabi kept my chopsticks reaching for the next piece.

Two servings of Ganghan Sushi plus one cold soba was a great combo for two people to enjoy together. It was really, really good.
